need advice on a apartment grow.

im looking for quality over quantity but would like to harvest every 2-4 months. im moving into my apartment in 2 months and have 1600 to spend on this setup.

i was thinking a veg cab with 3x 4' flourescesnts, a mother cab with 6x 45 w cfls. and 2x c24 cabs with a 600w hps digital ballast in each. going organic for sure. i was thinking ak-48 and pure power plant from nirvana for my first grow.

what would you guys say? thanks

Id suggest going with a Hydrohut mini for clones and veg and then a larger hydrohut like the 4x8 with 2 600's for flowering. A couple fans and carbon scrubbers and you're all set. Not to mention it would be stealthy. best of luck

yeah mine will be the bottom floor. im hoping to sell alittle to keep up on my bills and what not. i have 2 jobs, united parcel service and subway but both are part time and i only pull 200 a week from ups and 180 a week from subway.

its all hard to figure because ill be paying as much for an apartment 860/monthly were as i can get a 4 bed/3 bath rental home for 1000-1200 a month.

if i want the house ill need a room mate, and one thats trustworthy. thats hard to find because i know everyone my age will be having everybody over all the time and that just wont fly when im growing. SO COMPLICATED!

Rockin Da Ganja,

Dude yea it is complicated trying to grow when your still young and all your friends just want to throw keggers and have people over all day. You put yourself at a big risk by trying to grow in an environment like so i understand why you choose to live in the ultra expensive apartment.

I also live in an apartment, the upstairs to be precise. I to am a young grower( in my early 20's) so i know what its like to try and deal with roomates. My advice is to steer clear of them all the way. The only person you can truly trust is yourself and maybe your wife if you found a good one. I only have a 400 in my closet but its perpetually bangin out herb for me. I priced out a few different options so let me give you the run down. The most expensive setup you could possibly afford would be the 4 x 8 hydro hut deluxe with 2 aircooled 600 watters.

two 600's + aircooled reflectors + bulbs is gonna run you $800

8" Fan + Carbon filter + ducting is atleast $360

Then the hydro hut is $500 if you find a good deal

But thats already $1600 right there...... sooooo i dont think that is the route that your gonna want to go down. IMO you could save a lot of money if your place had a walk it closet you could use instead of having to buy the hydrohut, but you cant beat its ease of setup.

If you ran 2 c24 cabs, that would run you..

2 cabnates $200

2 600 watt lights, reflectors, bulbs, $800

now you could save money in this setup by using stanley blowers instead of inline fans. Also you would probobly want to use a cooltube rather than reflctors since space inside the cabinate is an issue.

2 stanley blowers + 2 carbon filters + ducting+ insulation/mylar and louvers = $350-375

thats a total of $1375 for 2 flowering cabintates, they wont produce as much as the hydrohut because of sq footage, but would be very effecient.

Now with the remaining $225 i would suggest getting another c24 cab with another stanley blower, but no carbon filter for your veglings, then maybe get a 250 watt blue cfl, that would work perfect.

But alas in this plan there is still no $$$ for a mother cab.

also if you wanted to go the route of the c24's i would suggest 400's rather than 600's because i think they would just cause a heat problem, and you would save about $400 extra $$$ by using 400 watters.

Now with the extra money you could build your mother/clone cab and even put a 400 watt HID in the veg box instead of the 250 cfl.

So in closing i think the most cost effective total system would be:
- 2 400 watt HPS c24's for Bloom total cost- $950
- 1 400 watt MH c24 for Veg total cost- $350
- 1 250 watt blue cfl c24 (or smaller) for mothers and clones- $250

Total cost- $1550 not to bad for a complete setup that you could use to run perpetual harvest for the next few years, or until you get the extra flow to buy that 8 x4 hydro hut. Hope this helped, wish i had the loot to set this up. hehehe peace dude.

id veg the plants for a month and a half, take clones a couple weeks before flower. The clones should have roots right as you initiate flowering. Keep repeating the process. You will always have 2 month vegged monster plants ready to flower just as the others finish flowering.

What size space are you sectioning off for the grow? I wouldnt do a cab if its not just for your personal consumption. Maybe a 1k for flower and a 400w for veg. 2lbs every two months. A 1k 12/12 and 400 18/6 shouldnt raise any suspicion as far as electrical usage.

you could get 2 (3ft. x 3ft. x 6.5ft) minis off of B-G for $170 each plus shipping. from what i've seen, you will yield very nicely with 600's in those. plus they look like wardrobes for clothes and are pretty stealth looking imo if you didn't know what it was.

northernkronic is the boy for reppin stanley blowers. one of the most efficient blowers for your money, $40 a piece. correct me if i'm wrong, but it has similar air output as a dayton 265cfm i believe. very quiet. most centrifugal fans sound like jet engines. you would need a silencer to keep that noise down. i love mine very much...

The power use of the stanley IS,

Low- 60watts/.48Amps

Med-68watts/.56Amps

High-78watts/.69Amps

these numbers where gotten by the use of a Kill-A-Watt electricity usage monitor.

*note* this was also with out anything else plugged into the blower fan.

as far as lighting goes, check out h i d h u t. 2 digi 600's with cooltube reflectors and bulbs included for $600. i might be worried about RF interference in an apartment, though i can't vouch for that. it will make your electric bill go down a bit and make your bulb put out more lumens, although it could be using energy to do so. 400's are a good option too. $400 for both kits.

stick with fluoros for veg. less heat, means less worry about high output fan. maybe you could keep your mother(s), clones, and rootings in the c24. get creative with them!

good luck :rasta: !

FOR ALL NEW COMERS AND BEGINNERS must READ !!!!

LoL dude these people are stearing u wayyyyy oFFF :bashhead: .
whats up with you guys...
listen ive been where you are now check it out your best bet its really the cheapest way (and its fun) :headbange ,

1st off- the scrubber dont go and spend 200$ on a carbon scrubber you can build for like 50 $$ tops. go to the DIY LINK and go to pro carbon scrubber
its the same same thing they sell for 200 $$

2nd- the blowers get yaself 2 stanley blowers you can order online (its kinda hard to find them in the stores) for like 90 dollars both you simply go the DIY link follow the directions an modify the blower so easy

recap so far 50 $ scrubber ,2 blowers 90 $ appossed to 200 for a scrubber an about 170 each for a blower :nono:

so now your only about 110 $ in the hole and youve knocked off 3 VERY essential products

the lights here is where people totally blow you outta the park he said about 800 for 2x 600 hps watt if found this place called http://www.1000bulbs.com dude you can get 1000 watt High Pressure Sodium - LU1000/MOG/2100K - Sylvania bulbs for 43 $ they even got

1000 Watt - High Pressure Sodium - LU1000/MOG for 25 $ this is all brand new i know that name brand plays a part in things but hey a 1000 Watt bulb is a 1000 Watt bulb and for those prices who can go wrong. they got the raw ballast also which are 110 $ for the 1000 watt and 100 $ for the 600 watt. the only thing was they didnt have 600 wat bulbs. but listen with the raw ballast all u gotta do is wire them up which a 9th grader can do an mount them 2 the wall with the brackets it brings

so 2 X 1000 watt bulbs 50 $

2 x1000 watt hps raw ballast 110 $

160 $ for 2 1000 watt lamps ( with the few accessories it needs like the cord and socket for bulb. will maybe runn you another 40 bucks

you can buy the cheap double wing bat refelectors that spreads light very well the trick is to air cool the light very simple in the DIY youll find DIY cool tube link its easy just follow directions

the best way to go i think is to make your own rubbermaid aeroponic tubs its soo easy in the diy theres a link to a aero cloner . its the same shit dude just a bigger version like in a 54 gallon rubbermaid storage bins. depending on how big ya room is u can use 2 or 3 each one should hold about 16 plants in 3" cups (thats what i used works well). all you have to do is run A TIMER on the pump so that every 5 or 10 minutes or so ( depending on plant stage) so the plants dont just get a 24hr mist cycle like the ez cloner but to be able to let the roots dry then wet dry an wet. it gives the roots time to breath in co2 and not just water water water.

4 x tubs 54 gallon 48 plants i paid i think 21 $ each at home depot
(mind you) 1 tub is for the res. which pumps the nuts to the tub via feed line and 1 return line (no float none of that needed very simple just top your res. every so often days)
48 x misters = 48 $

1 x 350 gph mag pump = 75 $ ( works great on up to 5 tubs )

i dont know how big u wanna make ya room but its simple dude instead of 500 hydro hut

by yaself some 10 ' pvc 1 inch and make the cube yaself in the DIY theres a link that shows u more or less how the cube looks. the only thing is that to be able to hang ur lights from inside the room your going to have to add 2 support bars on the top of the box u made made from the 1 " pvc just get 2 T's to connect each support for each light and

1 X panda plastic (white and black) thats like 89 $

1 x tarp zipper u can find in home depot for ur door to the room

2 x white duct tape for the inside (makes the room look clean)

1 x black duct tape for the outside (just keeping it neat

you also wanna get a pack of bungie cords the sturdy ones are more than strong enuff to hold the lights and an chain lower it

so lets recap this

1 x carbon scrubber = 50 $
2 x 1250 cfm blowers = 90$
2 x 1000 watt bulbs 25$ each = 50$
2 x 1000 watt hps ballast 110$ each = 220$
accessories for lights reflectors sockets cord = 100 $
4 x 54 gallon rubbermaid tubs 21 each = 63 $
48 x 360 degree misters 1$ each= 48 $
1 x 350 gph magdrive pump =75$
1 x panda plastic = 89$
1 x heavy duty timer =20$
pvc,zippers,tape,bungycord,= 50$ tops

for about 850 $ u can do it and thats using the 2 x 1000 watters they have the 400 watters which are even cheaper ! dude just got to the DIY link an help yourself. u can construct a hydro hut for 150 $ and thats 2 much im jus saying ) instead of 500 on shit u could use for something else like nutrients which are very expensive. LOL

i just wanted to prove a point :nono: to all u morons who be on here acting like f*&^% hot shots like your the only people who can grow due wake up  no your not ****ing shakespeare use to smoke GANJA!!! **** tells u ) somebody waS gRowIng iT LoL . so please just cuz you know what your doing dont try to discourage us new comers to this with your wanna be einstien formulas ! dude its real simple plant water light ( watch the bitch grOW ! ) :headbange :headbange .
