NEED ADVICE - grow cabinet design

HELLO GUYS!

The only weed available in my country here is those pathetic and low class brick weed, but it's all we can get here . My weed dealer will close his business soon, and I'll have no marijuana for the rest of my life if I don't grow my own.

I have just finished the design of my grow cabinet. I have an old cabinet I’m planning to use for my grow. I currently live in SE Asia, where I have no access to some equipments needed (such as inline fan, hps hood etc, so I designed this box with things that I can easily buy at my local stores.

I have some bagseeds (around 50 seeds) from my friend, i hope they’re still good and fresh. They are some landrace sativas, possibly came from Sumatra. The high is really great, uplifting, and so trippy.

I don’t have the courage to order online seeds, as local police has just put a man in jail for 17 years (The guys at customs busted his package, found 15 marijuana seeds in the so called STEALTH packaging FFS). So, I hope I can get the best results with things I currently have in hand. I hope you guys can give me some advice and tips, whether these things that I planned will work or not).

first of all, as I’ve told you earlier, I have no access to buy in line fan (none is available at local store and buying from ebay is not a choice, as the shipping and tax will cost me too much money). So I’m planning to use 2 bathroom exhaust fan (one for air in and another one for air out). I can make a diy carbon scrubber for the exhaust (smell will be a problem for me, as I live in a populated area).

I have best local nutrition and organic soil for my growing media, so those things won’t be an issue.

The growlight is a real issue though. A friend of mine could hook me up to some 150W HPS bulbs and ballast, but he doesn’t have the hood (i wonder I can use HPS bulb without a proper hood). Local stores here have complete range of T5 and CFL, so they might be the safest option for me.

I hope you guys wouldn’t mind to take a look at my design, attached here, and tell me if this is gonna work or not. thank you very much.

Looking good, but I'd be concerned with air quality from the bathroom exhaust.
Maybe just make a passive intake on the side of the closet, no need to suck air from the bathroom which can be very humid and also bring in slime or whatever.

You won't need a fan for in. Your air out fan will suck air in.

Use your second fan for your carbon scrubber.

There are a few ways to make your scrubber. Look around and you can find one that can be made with stuff you can get ahold of.

You don't need a hood for the 150 hps set it up as a vert bulb and do a dyi cool tube . Lots of info for how to here on ic . This helps w heat in small cabs also.

If a guy gets busted for 17 years for having 15 seeds - how long do you think it will be for you - when your grow gets busted for not having a proper ventilation system that takes care of the odors?

thanks for your concern.. that's why I'm asking wether my design will work or not.. I had lots of ideas, but this is the best that I could come with. Wish me luck..

I fear that the exhaust fan and filter set up is inadequate. Trying to force air thru the carbon filter is iffy. Good luck. -granger

I think he means bathroom exhaust fans as typically used to exhaust air from bathrooms, not that the air being sucked into his cabinet is actually coming from the bathroom. I presume that the air in the intake is just coming in from the room where the cabinet is placed.

what size is it exactly?


good news is...
seeds: i wouldn't worry- use what you have will be fine(but id recomend a veg area so u can have only females and keep clones going in
scrubber: can DIy using carbon available to the aquarium industry-no problem
soil: is a good easy choice to start with- nutrients can use gardening stuff-blood meal etc whatver is local and cheap
FANS ARE FANS if u use bathroom fans and/or pc fans its all good
light- id recomend a DIY led but thats just me lol- in a small space cooling an hps could be tricky- id look into verticle(as others have suggested) cooltube

2 things I would strongly suggest

1) seen as stealth is obviously very important i would plan to have a drying chamber in your cab before the scrubber( maybe the control room area can be used to dry)

2) I would use a fridge because a humming cupboard that is plugged into the wall is much more suspicious than a humming fridge that is plugged into the wall

I would also get a tiny veg area because u will one day run out of seeds and if u have a cloning area you can run a sog in there-


most importantly tell no one what you are doing-even your coolest stoner friends
