6/7 of the little ones are doing great in the new ebb and grow, but one is getting brown spots on the "teeth" of the leaves. the PH is 6.8, EC around 550 and PPM of about 270. right now they are being fed only a seaweed base fert for hydroponics. i havent added any PBP or anything else. for once i dont think it is over feeding, but im not sure. im going to go get cal mag and some guanos today if i feel up to the long ass drive.
my second situation is this. i made a soil mix from the organics for beginners page. its comprised of peat, perlite, compost, bone/blood meal dolomite lime and some seaweed liguid to hydrate it. i transplanted some bag seed into it to see whether or not they like it but the lower leaves are starting to yellow at the tips and moving in. you think its too "hot" for em? i think i may just cut in a decent amount of non fertilized mix to thin it out a bit.
here are the pics. let me know what you think......

no problem, thanks for the reply. i lowered the ph to 6.1 because i think 6.8 was a tad bit too high

I'm a little confused about your medium.
The pics show lava rock.
You are talking about a peat-based medium, and also about a ebb n flow and giving hydro type information.
Indeed, 6.8 is too high for hydro and soillless.
Watering a soilless peaty mix with organics using ebb n flow (from the bottom) isn't the usual way of doing things though. Instead, you should be watering from the top, even to the point of runoff every so often.
That mix might also be a bit too fert-y for such young plants.

When doing hydro PH should be maintained around 5.8.

Yes, it is very possible that yer homemade soil is too hot for those lil babies. I wouldn't have transplanted into something that hot until the plant was a couple weeks older atleast.

P.S - whats the CalMg for? are you using RO water? If you are using tap water chances are there is plenty of calcium already in your water and adding more would be counterproductive.

stinkyattic- i have two things running. soil mix in the first pic, and then my hydro setup in the ebb and grow. the reason u see lava rock is cuz i ran short of hydroton on a couple so i used what i had on hand to fill em up and keep the plants supported. for the most part i would say they are at least 95%hydroton.

i will drop the ph some more tonight and slowly bring it down to low 6 high 5's. the one looks burned but i dont know how it can be at 270 ppm. maybe its the ph thats burning em? i dunno

as far as the soil mix being too hot. i think they will be ok. the yellowing hasnt progressed anymore today. but im still planning on cuttin in some empty soil to tone it down a bit
