High everybody,
I just wanted to show off my first attempt at honey oil. I quick washed with denatured alcohol and perged with a pyrex double boiler set up. I used about an ounce of seeded ak48 (slightly premature). And here is what I ended up with. It has a very dark amber tint to it and almost smells like opium. One good hit will make your lungs explode into a coughing rage of hashy goodness. "Ground control to Ncogneato,.....come in Ncogneato." This shit turns me into a space cadet. Truly spectacular!










Not too bad for a rookie.......ha ha.

Thanks Shibby. I swear this is my virgin run. There are so many great tutorials on quickwash, so I adapted them to suit what works for me. Pretty easy stuff really.

Dude, please tell me you didn't use Denatured alcohol. Denatured alcohol is almost the worst thing you can use because if you look on the label it contains methanol........a known dangerous poison.

just a tidbit- "Because of its poisonous properties, methanol is frequently used as a denaturant additive for ethanol manufactured for industrial uses—"

They add that so it can't be abused by alcoholics, methanol can even poison you by getting it on your skin

One other thing, Denatured alcohol is NOT the same thing as isopropyl alcohol, which is safe, and while i'm on my soapbox, don't use acetone either.

^^^^^^ sound advice, I shudder now at the oil I *used* to make with acetone. it always had a taste to it. Butane is the most superior solvent I have used so far.

I appreciate your concern. However, there are many conflicting opinions on the use of D.A.. I am confident in my perging technique as all the alcohol has been removed and there is no associated "taste". I would love to see an actual study done on residual residue left from evaporation. If someone can give me the hard facts on that, I may be convinced and change my method.
Don't get me wrong. I don't want to turn this thread into the great debate like that other D.A. thread.

Something I've always wondered about oil. You used an ounce of bud. How long will the oil you got from the bud last in comparison? I'd love to make oil, but if it only lasts a quarter as long as the bud does then I don't know if I'd be able to make that sacrifice.

I have trouble finding the time to smoke the oil I made. For me i have to ..not have been drinking before I do some hash.. even a beer or two with a spot will shut me down. I never considered how long it would keep its potency.

if i am sober i can get a serious groove once I'm buzzin on some hash...and then I can drink or not

I guess it must be oxidizing.. time to go into the freezer I think

That is the benefit of grow your own. Plus this bud was seeded and a bit premature.....,no loss. And the product I got out of it is surely ten times more enjoyable than smoking the bud itself.

i personally find that cannabis extracts last longer than just the bud itself...

oh yah? well now i got my new titanium i made a new pad and me and my dad did 0.1 gram hoots on it. only one each, but we can say we did now.. getting a better scale (2 decimals) so i can weigh hits and oil yields mo betta.

in Chiefsmokingbud's post about honey oil it says an ounce of high quality buds will give 3-6g of oil. So for 0.1g hits each time, that's thirty to sixty times you can smoke, from the original oz. Most of the bowls I smoke are around .3g, so that's about 90 bowls. About half the time I smoke 2 bowls, the other half I smoke one. So that's about thirty sessions. Seems like it'd even out about. It would be a different kind of high though, right?

naw you didnt get it.. 0.1s are kinda insane. i think an average LARGE bho vapor hit is about 0.03- 0.05.
