NC stories - What's yours

I had a bay/boo order vanish at the end of October, and I'm trying not to freak out. Instead of beefing up my garden, maybe I should be tearing it down...

Anyone in NC have something share?

There was a UK mail strike at that time. Your order probably got lost in the literal mountain of mail just sitting in warehouses. Likely nothing to do with customs, rather the mail strike.

While that is an optimistic point of view, I don't think it is accurate. Others with post dates following mine received their orders without incident, and I know of one other ICMAGer who has also lost an order with my ship date. I hope you're right and they show up tomorrow.

I'm curious as to whether any other tar heels have had seizures lead to further trouble. I know the mountain-grow spotting and seizures in Western NC rival Cali, but I don't know much about customs leading to leo here.

Many orders never arrived and many orders took months because of the long UK strike. The other day Clarence said in one the warehouses there is still mail piled up. Combine that with the holiday mail and some people will have a heck of a wait....if they get them at all. I mean, imagine millions of letters sitting in warehouses. Would take a while to clear thru, I'd think.

cocktail frank, gotta give you props on your style. It is not the loss I'm worried about, but possible repercussions. I have pondered the mountain of mail from the strike. If they do show up, you can believe the earth will shake from the happiness of my dancing.

As everyone says though, no one really knows of someone getting busted through a seed order.

There are indeed posts to that effect sailinthesun.

After reading on the Seedbay forum about lots of problems in October, it may well be that my beans are stuck in some postal backlog. So many missing orders all at once sound more like that than interference. sigh

Can you show us said posts or PM a link? I'm not saying what you're saying isn't true. It's that I've never heard of a seedorder leading to a bust in NC. In fact I've only heard of 3 seed "mail" orders that were mentioned in busts in the US. None of the 3 said the orders led to the arrests or prompted the investigation.

good links dddownlowww, had read about the dr. before, the other 2 were new
notice 2 of the 3 were from Indiana? this is probably the worst state to grow in
the Kentucky story was bit different, no charges initially, and didn't sound like an international order, more likely some some home wrapped letter getting ripped up by the PO sorting machinery
but the risk of seed delivery seems to very dependent on where you are, some states(read Indiana) are not great states to order seeds

Yeah ... those are the 3 I heard about and they did say Overseas Seed Orders led to the arrest(s). None of the above are in NC and they are at least a couple of years old (1 being almost 5). It doesn't sound like they were very careful about their illegal movements. I hope you were being more cautious when you made your order (please tell us you didn't have your beans sent to the spot that you grow weed). Thanks for the links.

If you're having seeds delivered to your grow spot, I'd pack up shop. But I'm overly cautious maybe, I don't know. I'd prefer to lose a crop than convince myself everything's ok and then get busted.

jam on...I'm on the far left side here in the mtns, and your comment about chopper spotting is damned sure on point. I work out of my home and had to leave several times during harvest season because of how far I am up on the mountain and how many LOUD ASS helicopters were flying a hundred yards over my house every single day of the week...
