Nanolux 1000w DE with 8' ceilings?

Hey all,

I've got a few nanolux de units on the way to see what all of this DE fuss is about.

I'd like to pin them to the ceiling of a 8' bedroom.

Nanolux says maintain about 4' distance between the tops of the plants and the lamps. A few people around the web said 3' or so will work.

So,

Anyone around here doing it?
DE at the 8' ceiling. Pinned tight to the ceiling.
Plants directly on a pond liner floor.

I'd build a trellis about 4' or so down from the lamps in order to train the plants horizontal and try to keep them 1' or so off of the net... giving me about 3' of space above the canopy.

It'll be tight.. but with a ridged trellis I don't see why it couldn't work.

I'm open to all suggestions. Want to keep it simple as possible so I'm thinking coco blumats. This keeps me at the floor and allows the pond liner to collect the little bit of run-off during setup.. otherwise it'd be rather clean running for an upstairs bedroom.

Im gon a be runnin these myself soon.
They should really start sellin em by distance from plant top not from cieling thats a totally arbitrary number when plants are growing up into the light.
Ive only got 8ft cielings myself.
Sweet thing about nanolux is you can adjust the light curve with the dtu
Set it to run full bore for like 2 hours at 1100w then drop to 80% so u dont fry your plants If they are a lil closer than they should be.
Certainly not the best way to run em but it will work I think.
Im gonna have plenty of hieght soon is why im gonna go ahead an play with it
Your gon a want a strain that stays small with little to no stretch to even make that work tho.

I've been running the Nano DE's for a few months now and most of my strains prefer to be 42-48" away from the bulbs, I couldn't get away with 8' ceilings as I like my plants 2 feet off the ground.

Thanks for the info.

I'm going to be running these over 5x5 footprints in a 5'x10' "bed" with 2 nanolux units overhead.

Does it matter which way I orientate the units?

Should the long end of the reflector be in line with one another or turned 90 degress and ran parallel with the other unit.

H = ballast
< = reflector

____

H< H<

or

or

H< >H

The reflector piece itself being centered over each 5x5 square regardless of configuration..

When you set up the DEs just place them side by side 5' on center

They'll cast light to the side. This is where the secret of the DE comes in. It creates a dense interlacing light pattern that penetrates the entire canopy. This is how people are getting the extra yield, plus a higher PAR value.
