Mystery seeds - Opinions wanted

Hey folks, I didn't know where to post this, but I figured here would be my best bet. I recently picked up some seeds from my friend. My friend's father is an hold hippy that has harbored seeds from way back when. Recently I acquired a 'verity pack' of bud from his father's stash. I was told the bag consisted of AK-47, Sour D, and Blueberry. I'm not sure if the seeds are from the 80's or not, but I was told they were from his father's old seed stash that originated back during the 80's. The bud came with some seeds in it which I gladly collected and added to my collection. There is no question whether the bud is quality or not. I have smoked plenty of it and I can attest to the quality. Let's just say everything was too blurry to drive for me. Which surprised me because I'm a regular toker.

I guess my question is; Do you think it would be worth the time and effort to raise seeds from possible quality genetics rather than attempting to plant and raise my Nirvana Seed Standard seeds? I currently only have 2 x NL and 2 x AK-48 from Nirvana left. I have heard the seeds from Nirvana are 'knockoff' versions of other strains or other strains with Skunk #1 bread into them. I don't want to waste those seeds with my current green thumb. I've killed a number by accident already.

Also if I do start to raise these newly acquired seeds do you think its possible to identify them with pictures whilst they are growing?

Well, sd, and ak47 weren't around in the 80's so it sounds like he was probably not being straight with you. Even still if the bud was really nice I'd grow them rather than spend money on nirvana seeds.

Yes, go for the mystery. Seek it and be surprised.

“The answer is never the answer. What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer-- they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer."

Mystery Seeds are Diamonds in the rough. You can find some nice smoke in bagseed.

That is the exact thing I was thinking, but I didn't know. However it was my mistake in saying that those seeds came from his father's old stash. He just told me his father had grown some plants from other seeds he had in the 80's. He did not say that these plants were the same thing. It was two different events that I misconstrued in my writing. Oopsy. Any way I dropped a few of my seeds in water to germ.
