I dont use mylar just white paint but I have heard of people using those emergency foil blankets and also some one was talking about this metallic wrapping paper that you stick or tape on or somethin. Not too sure cause like I said... I dont use the stuff.

Emergency blankets are in walmarts camping section. They only cost a few buch and can cover alot. I think they are made out of the same shit as mylar but im not sure. THese blankets are very thin though and they tear very easily.

Ive started using plastic that is two sided, dark on one side and white on the other. Goes up nicer then mylar and is prolly just as reflective :) and of course put the white side out.

From my experience, mylar sucks! Even the 2mil stuff rips easy and is difficult to hang well. Plus, it degrades too fast. After about a year the reflective material starts to fall apart. I just pitched over half of a 100ft roll because it fused to itself. Trying to unroll it was like trying to find the beginning of a roll of scotch tape. If you could manage to unroll a piece without it ripping, it had huge clear spots through the reflective material. This roll was less than a year old. And the 1mil stuff is like tissue paper...worthless if you ask me.

I now use Reflectix insulation from the hardware store...Lowes, Home Dept, Builders Square...they should all have it. It is about $45 for a 4ft by 50ft roll. Almost as reflective as mylar, and very heavy duty. Can be washed clean, and pins to the wall easy with furniture nails or tacks. Plus it has the added benifit of good noise reduction. Well worth the extra cash.

Be safe...

Panda poly is best, it's like $75 4'x100'. Mylar is nice but does degrade so does $2 emergency blankets from sunny's surplus or china-mart. White paint semi-gloss or gloss is good since you can wash it. White foam insulation board also works well.

Target sells mylar in small packs its in with the wrapping paper and stuff .....the pieces are kinda small but its cheap and if you grow micro-cab style then they are perfect. its so cheap that if it get messed up you just rip it down and replace it. mine lasts 3-4 grows

I went with the Reflectix. Was about $42 at home depot for the 4 x 25 roll and seems to get the job done.
