my Window AC goes CLUNK

hey all, i have a few month old window ac, 5500 btu i think. It has been fairly quiet for a cheaper airconditioner, but all of a sudden it has started to make fairly loud clunking sounds when it turns off and on, and is generally a lot louder.

Is there any AC maintenance im missing or the do's and donts of AC? I figure it's set and forget....

ps. im running my tent's cooltubed exhaust into the side port of my ac, it isnt super hot, just warmer air.

Those 5K BTU A/C units (like mine) are usually pretty noisy. The "thunk" is just the compressor jarring in it's rubber mounts that loosen over time. (Mine were never tight, and have "clunked" forever.) It's ok, don't worry about it. If you want a quiet A/C, it's going to cost a little more.

I have a small 5k unit that uses 515 watts. It's not in my grow room.


Now this is weird. I was answering your question as to how many watts it uses. How did my answer end up before your question?

im pretty sure it blows as cold as when i got it, used.

i was wondering as well, how many watts do you think these draws on,

- fan mode
- running compressor, doing its r22 thing, blowing cold

trying to gauge if i should cut back to save on its portion of the electricity.

ps. yeah that's odd you answered before i asked,
