My Setup Wrong?

I have a dr80 with 400w hps and a six inch carbon filter.
I think that, I know 6in is overkill but I need to get it out of my tent somehow.
Anybody with experience please can input on how I can run my filter on the outside without smell seeping out!

Just have the fan suck air out of the tent & blowing air into the filter
