My portable AC is taking a major crap

Got a portable single hose and recently its been leaking out of the bottom for some reason. I have it setup to drain constantly into a drain hose that worked well until one day it stopped draining into that hose and leaked out of the bottom all over the floor. I wasn't thrilled and still have no idea why its doing this, does anybody? It doesn't do it all the time even, just now and then. I thought it might be from running cold and it freezes up.

AND I discovered something amazing when I turned it off to look at the fan inside. It had all this crap on it which I thought was ice until I got a flashlight and its mold of some sort, all over the blades of the fan, hairs of mold. I'm freaking over this.
All you guys might want to check that out.

This is a major crap because I need AC for cooling and dehumidifing when lights are on. I want to get a window AC so I can use co2, I have a window I can use but my deck is very close to it and there isn't enough space, I can cut the deck I guess somewhat but don't know yet.
Or I get astupidnother portable AC and can't use co2 again.

Damn it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ya dude i went through the same issue with mine. i just took a caulk gun and with some sealant and hit it right the tubing goes into the plastic, theres like a metal spring or something there. maybe a hot glue gun. i ended up takin mine out and going the window unit route way less problems plus they're way cheaper! :joint:

I just took the thing apart and I think the problem is a pump that pumps collected water that drips down into a collection plate up to a middle of the unit drain hose, I think the pump is intermittantly broken somehow.
I discoverd the unit had a lower drain hose so I'm hoping that is the solution.

I got a close up look at that mold, I recommend everybody take a look at their AC and see if there is mold. I've been looking at new units and some say they have an anti mold fan.

I also go to see how the unit uses the air, for mine the big intake on the back is the air used to blow into the room. The louver intakes on each side are the ones that suck the air in and blows out through the exhaust.
If I could somehow duct those it would be sealed and I could use co2, but i don't think the unit is that air tight for that.

If the mold is restricting the air flow over the coil it will freeze up......then shut off and leak all over. Clean it good but dont bend up the fins and it should fix it.

The dual hose units are no better at keeping the co2 in the room, onlt a window AC works for that

Any ideas how to clean the fan, its inside and doesn't seem easy to come out. Is there a spray?

coil cleaner spray...make sure you get the non acidic type. Or just use compressed air and blow it out.

How about some tea tree oil, supposed to kill mold quick, a nice spray of it.
I don't want to blow the mold anywhere

Just a thought, but are you using the entire room for your grow? Is there anyway you could build a frame for the window A/C inside the growroom?

Thats what I'd like to do, there was a thread on it awhile ago but I lost it.
I'd like to see how the guy dealt with all the intakes on the AC.
