Hello,

I've been a member for about 2 years and have talked about all my success growing weed and never had the pictures to back me up. Well, with a little help from my sister, I can now do a grow journal with photos.

Before I begin my new grow, here is a picture of one on of my plants currently at 3 weeks flower. The box is 4x4x3 and is made from 2x2's and drywall. The lights I use are 23 watt CFL's.

The New Grow Starts Here

The New Grow Starts Here

This is a 6 plant grow of a seed I produces about 8 months ago from 2 bag seeds. I can;t tell you the genetics, but I am having a 100% germ rate, and the picture above is one of 2 plants from the same seeds.

I am using soil that I have been using since 2004 it is MG potting soil with 3-4 pounds of fan leaves mulched in since I began growing. As you can see, I plant the seeds directly into the soil, in 2 liter coke bottle. Pictured are 2 of the germinating plants.

Will update this thread with pictures once a week until it's done. I will also include an update for the flowering plant in post #1.

Nothing fancy here:

Thanks. It make it a little more fun to add a picture or two. The plant doesn;t look as good as many I've seen here, but it still looks good to me.

Mighty big for such a little seedling. I do like the soda containers though. I have started using 16 ouncers on some to see how more efficient rooting is when going into the next pot. Figure it is more of an even plug that way, and that the rooting will fill in better without voids.

Brian...

I used two liter bottles because they were free. They worked so I continued using them. I don't have to transplant, and from what I've seen, after 2-3 weeks of veg and 60-70 days of flower, the plants roots do not seem knotted when I clean up for the next run. I've nearly got it down.

Only the 1st time did the roots become bound tight. That was with 30 days of 24/7 and 60 days of 12/12. The main cola was about 14 inches long, and as think as my hand.

More on my set up.

Seedlings are in a small bookcase with 4 23 watt CFL's. It's more like a "glow" box than a "grow" box The flowering box is free from light leaks and has 5 23 watt CFL's. Both boxes have adjustable lights. The max height the bookcase can handle is 18 inches while the flower box can handle 3 foot plants.

The seedlings will get water as needed and will be put into flower at 2 weeks. They will be about 6 inches tall by then. After the out grow the bookcase, they will go into the flower box.

Once the sex is known, they will continue to get straight water for another 2 weeks, and then 3 days of MG Bloom Booster, NPK=10-52-10 followed by 4 days of plain water. This will continue for a month. The final month of flower will be with straight water.

Next time I take pictures, I'll take them outside in natural light. Should produce clearer pictures and may allow a close up.

If it's not broken, don't fix it. How often do you need to water them at 4 weeks of flower? Next grow, I am experimenting with a horizontal plant grow. Shape of a 3-liter would work well for it.

I water everyday. Don;t measure the amount of water. When the weight of the plant is light I water more, when it's heavy, I water less. I'm not too fond of using the BB, so I try to limit the amount I use. I bet I could do better if I put up mylar, but I'm moving someday to my own house and it's there, I'll make a couple of closets.

Should add there's a 9 inch lakewood fan in the flower box, and nada in the bookcase.

Everyday?? If it is heavy, then you shouldn't water at all really. It enjoys a time to "dry out" before its next "water bender"(haha). Better growth exhibited with that type of watering maintenance. Although, I don't doubt you need to water frequently because of amount of roots in that amount of soil. I use a moisture meter but am also able to tell by feel, if I happen to be handling one. To the point now, I know around when they should need it so it is no big secret. Meter is nice though, very handy.

I meant to say water lightly when the plant is heavy. I guess I go through 2 quarts of water every 3 days.

An odd thing happened. On of the seeds popped and what I have is a stem with a seed on top. The seed isn't cracked, and I trying pulling it off, but I didn;t want to hurt the little thing because so far from this batch of seeds 100% of the plants have been female.

The other 5 seedlings have a stem, those round leaves and the first set of "fan" leaves growing from the center. If it's still the same, I'll take a pic and show it. It was weird to look at. Made the sci-fi nut in me wander. Calling it a mutant for now.

Because the plant could be heavier. I don;t know I do these things by ear and generally get good results. I left the soil dry out once and the fan leaves flopped on me, so I guess I'm trying to prevent that from happening. Just for you I would water today.

Anyways, I said I have to flowering plants. The second one, the one not shown is a hermaphrodite. On the 3 node from the top there are busted sacs, and the bud below has 2 seeds, and underneath that bud are a couple more busted sacs. I hope it's done dropping pollen. I guess it needed to reproduce. I'm not looking at it as a completely bad thing. Will have a picture when the camera returns.

The pictured plant doesn't have any sacs busted or otherwise. Didn't seed any seeds. I guess if any pollen from the hermi makes it over there, it will begin producing seeds too.

Both plants came from the same batch of seed. And those seeds happened the same way. Through a self pollinating plant.

A little update....

Due to a lighting mishap, I lost 2 seedlings after a set of CFL's fell on top of the two plants. On a more positive note, the bulbs did not break spreading glass shards and mercury vapors throughout the box.

In other news, I snagged my first solar panel from the trash. I will be getting together with a friend to test it. It's not a large panel, I estimate somewhere in the range of 10-20 watts DC. I've very pleased.

Will be back later this week with new pictures taken outside. Hopefully I'll get a few hours of privacy around here and I can take the plants outdoors to shoot the pictures while sharing the 2 waterfall fountain I refurbished. It was also found in the trash. It had leaks, and all I had to do was use a silicon sealant to fix it. It's very cute.

Have a great day!

Hey. There's not really any progress to report through pictures. the seedlings are coming along. The only change is that I will veg them for more than 2 week. I think I'll make it 4.

As promised. Here's a picture of my fountain. I found the fountain in the trash. The buckets had leaks. All I did was take it apart, (so I could see how it was made), use a spay on silicon to seal the leaks and repaint the black metal bands with rustoleum.

How do you like it? I am still working on adding plants to the arrangement. Pot plants would be great if they were legal. The bench behind the fountain was also picked from the trash. The other one is near the fire pit.

To everyone looking in,

Have a great day!

Thought I would fill in a bit. I added another 100 watts to the flowering box hoping that the extra lumen will help the plant fill in it's main cola. It looks like, after just 24 hours, new pistols are showing up. The trichromes are showing up nicely, and the inner part of the buds looks think with the stuff. The bud leaves are coated too, but it's the calyx's that have lots of dust.

Until next week.....

Thanks. The buds look real good with a thick coating of THC.

The seedlings are looking good right now. Two weeks into the grow. About 4 inches tall. I am going to let them go another week or two before flowering to see if that helps the yield. Two weeks is just now enough, and I have at least another 10 inches of s[ace to grow 3 foot plants.

I don't know what the issue is, but my yield is going to be very low on the two female plants I have flowering. The plants have buds from top to bottom, but there are gaps. The main top or cola is only about 4 inches 3 fingers wide. The branch buds are a bit smaller. The plant has not been touched and will flower for another week. The hairs are about 30% red/orange. The buds look great, but the quantity is low.

I don't know if it's soil related, strain related, light related or veg time related. The last couple grows have been low yielding with short veg periods. It's the same seed. The smoke is A-1, but it's not going to be enough to support 3 months of smoking. I'm guessing maybe 2 ounces 3 at the most.

I started making up new soil for next time out. My mom threw out some peat moss and manure, plus there was a large bag of garden soil. Also added about 2 cups of bone meal before she tossed it. If I could come up with some volcanic ash, I would love to add some of that to the mix. I hear Hawaii has very fertile ground.

Back in a week maybe sooner should something interesting come up.

Seedlings need more time to veg than a clone does. Many different variables to be considered. One, would be the root mass of your plant. Bigger and better roots, will give you bigger and better buds.

Well,

I'm back with an update. The two flowering plants are still untouched and still flowering. I'm thinking about cutting them next week and post my pictures of the harvested bud on the the plant. Then the week after next, I would post bud shot of the total buddage from the two plants.

As for the babies. I'm down to 3 due to a lighting fall. They are 3 weeks old, and about 5 inches tall. They will continue vegging for at least another week before I move them into my flowering chamber.

Have a great day!

William
