My new ebb and gro

whats up everybody? i just got my new setup going and its looking pretty sweet at the moment. right now its a 4X4 hydro hut with a 9 bucket ebb and gro system placed in it. the rez and controller are outside of the tent to keep temps down. there is nothing in the pots at the moment. i first have a couple Q's before i set her all up.
1- i ran out of hydroton and the nearest hydro shop is 200 miles away. what can i substitute?ive seen in the BIO BUCKET threads where they use red volcanic rock. i should be able to find that here i think.
2- i have lots of seedlings going right now. some are in soil and some are in soilless mix. the only ferts they have been getting are sea weed spray once in a while. how soon can i transplant them? should i wait a couple weeks until they are bigger or will that only make it harder to transplant? remember that i will have to remove all the medium that i can from the roots once i put them into the hydro buckets.

oh and another question. when they are young like this how often should i be flooding the buckets? 2-3 times a day or should i do more? the system is empty at the moment but ive been flooding it 2 times a day so the water in there stays moving. the hydroton stays pretty moist but not overly wet so i think that should be good for my little seedlings. let me know what ya think

I usually transplant when my seedlings have roots coming out of the rockwool or medium, then run them on nutes half strength. If those are your seedlings in the soil pots, I think most of them look they should be ready to transplant.

I know in tables people flood every 2-4 hours based on preference. Buckets I dont know but someone will be by soon to answer I am sure.

i would recommend next time you have clones, put them into 4 inch rockwool cubes and prevege them in there b4 you put them into the buckets. Going from a soiless mix and taking them out of it and into the buckets, you have a chance of shocking them. I have the same system, and what I do is i prevege them in 4 inch rockwool cubes until you have a alot of roots coming out of the cubes, then placing them on top of the medium in the buckets. :rasta:

cool, thanks for the replies. when i do clones i will do as suggested. i will transfer the most promising looking ones in a few days. i wanna give em a few more days to get some more roots going. some of them are of questionable genetic heritage lol. others are seeds from nirvana and some seeds from several med clubs but they were given to me all mixed up. the meds will go in the buckets and the chronic bagseed will be put in soil containers and placed in between the rows of buckets in the tent. i want to fill it in pretty good.

flood E&G 3x per 12 hour day.
Hydroton can be cleaned, rinsed, and reused. indefinatly?
Order some to your door.

and listen to nutz, he is the e&g wizard.
4" RW cubes preveged under T5s/flouros before putting into the hydroton is the Way To Grow.
