My new baby got burned?

I'm new to this so spare me any ridicule and leave it at me being a nOOb. Now... this little jewel sprang up about 11 days ago. It is in perlite/vermeculite 1 to 1 with a layer of verme. on the surface. I am now employing a wick system, but just for experimental purposes i left this one with holes in the bottom of the cup sitting in a bowl for a reservoir. I fed it a 1/3 strength dose of nutes the day it broke the surface and again 3 days later; shortly after that last feeding this showed up on the ends of its first set of leaves

pics in my gallery... first is day 4 and second is currently day 11

i am almost certain i burned them because i fed them too fast... is there a better way to feed in the medium aside from automating? any input is much appreciated

Most likely got too much nutes at too young an age. I like to just use some potting soil mixed half and half with seed starter mix. Much easier and more forgiving than what you're trying to do......which looks like it requires a certain amount of guess work. Also, let your medium drain & slightly dry out before re-watering.

i figured as much. i have some other ak47(gifted) clones going and they look very promising. i just had to try this little experiment. do you only use that mix to start and then change upon transplant? should i hang on to this one just to flower early for something to tide me over or will it not do well?

Yes, you did burn them, do not feed them anymore for now.... with your mixture you have going you will need to feed 2 times a week at weak dosages...... you are in soiless mixture, kinda like ebb n flow where you water it and it drains out but the perlite and vermic is just the medium the plant sits in.......

how much food were you feeding them?

You should never feed a plant that just popped out food... the cotyledon's have food to feed the plant.......

i'm using nature's nectar nutes that comes as 3 bottles (N, P, K). The doseage on the nutes themselves says to give the same amount through both cycles; i wonder if this is a "must?" I gave them 1/3 strength of that doseage titrated to 100 mL delivered straight through the bottom of the cup (it sat in the solution). I guess i got ancy and gave them 2 doses within 4 days of each other. I realize now that no nutes are required for around 2 weeks at the minimum and then i can give the weak doseages and on up to full strength and so on. Any suggestion on supplemental nutes for this medium? Should this plant just be flowered early or is it worth the continued maturation with this damage?

Oh cool......you got Stitch into your thread...she can really help you!!
To answer your question...yes, after about 2 weeks I transplant from 16 oz. cups into a bigger container and use 100% Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil. By then the plants should have developed a nice root system.

just thought i would post an update. "she" got her first feeding since the mini flush i did after burning her. anyone tell me anything about it? type? genetics? is it too early to tell? its a bean from some random bud...i had 4 or 5 big buds and one of them had 11 seeds in it while the others had none...odd? this is day 15 from sprout.

It's very hard to tell what genes the plant has unless there is a gene specific to a certain strain.... like take for instance, blue berry... they have mutations a lot and are very picky with nutes.... they grow a certain way compared to other strains....

The plant looks very good now.... just remember not to over do it with the nutes :)
