my mini grow tent

This is my first grow, bit worried etc. I had a grow tent that was too big for my apartment *1.8m wardrobes take up a lot of space* so i wanted a smaller version that would fit in my room.

I have a blue 200w envirolight, and a red 125w envirolight hanging vertically (i cant figure out how to hang them horizonaly, as i dont want to tie anything to the bulb itself in case of fire etc). can anyone recommened a way o tie an evirolite horizontally?

the fan is working but i want to reduce the noise somehow, not sure if some kind of wood i have for a box around the fan would do the job, what should i stuff it with? Is it likely that the noise from a Td150 inline fan can be heard by my neighbours through the wall/floor?

im using 5 parts soil, 2 part vermaculite and 3 parts perlite. got a couple of 'baby bio food spikes' that i hope wont pollute the plants with cehmicals (?)

in the small space, i have decied to grow out a few seeds and pick the best few seedlnigs from them. there is a mixture of Cosmic Nights (Sensi star * Northern Lights) Maple Leaf Indica and Lowryder #2. i mixed up the beans so i dont know which is which (though i will prob soon find the lowryder)

i still have a Lowryder #2 female on about day 80 from seed, but the majority of that was under a 22w light (had the two bigger lights for about 40 days). got an ideas when htis will finish?

i am really looknig for some help here guys, please, point out my mistakes and enjoy the grow. i'll put some pics up at some point.

6700k is the colour temp of your lights, its white/ blue light i believe

does anyone think i should change the inline fan for a computer fan? i thought maybe the fan is too big for the space. its quite loud, thinking of getting a speed controller, but if its cheaper and better to get a comp fan i will

i have a fan speed controller that would require me wiring the fan in (risky!im no electrician) but i have no way of telling if the controller still works etc. its just been in storage, and worked fine for the last guys grow. he got it off ebay. its a vent axia:

i also have a td-250 inline fan, but i assume this is too big for my litle grow. what is the minimum size room for one of these? or am i better off putting the bigger fan in the little room, and then turnnig the fan down?

Hello Adorno. Interesting set-up. The perlite could be a little less. What type of soil is it and what is your water source?

Hi adorno.. Its best to use as good a fan as u got.. so stick with the inline..
Do u have intake vents to bring in air also?
As for the lights .. the blue bulb 6500k is good for veggin and the red 2700k is good for flowering, but u can mix both bulbs together for both periods so u might as well use both
Being honest u dont have a lot of height and cld do with more.. any way u can get more height?. hanging the bulbs like u do is ok, but u gonna run out of height for the plants that way, if u cld fix them horizontal u will get more room, but with a tent like that the best way would be with a reflector that has two bulb holders and is hung from the top.. but that would still take some height away and u right not to use something around the bulb to hang them, as that is a bit dangerous. Another option would be having them suspended as u have down the centre of the tent n keeping plants to the sides of the bulbs, and try to use the full height of the tent.
U can of course use training on the plants like lst or screen of green. to restrict height
Good luck with ya grow, you will find u learn along the way and modify to suit as u go

Good ventilation is always important.. and yes passive intake is fine enough.. for growing the plants with bulbs near i would suggest another fan suspended to blow on the bulbs and top level of plants.. that way u prob can get away with some touching of the plants but best to try keep them off bulbs but close to them  they can still get hot enough that prolonged touchin will burn plants.

If the water is a little cloudy usaully its chlorine and if you let it sit out for 30 miutes or so, it should be fine. Soil is a little more fogiving when it comes to using tape water, but still better to get it tested or start checking PPM and PH yourself to dial it in.

Passive intake is cool. Just keep some fans moving air around and maybe an open door or window will help too.

Keep trucking on your grow. peace_highst

also, i am still getting a slightly sweet smell from my carbon filter. does the cover/carbon need replacing? or is it just a cheap form of carbon?

please guys, i need your feedback on this grow, its not gone smoothly so far :yoinks:

and worse i just got some f*** glass weed, even though i asked that it wasnt. bastards, i couldnt check as another car came (just out in the street, ridiculous really but i have no other options to get some weed). i've put it in some rum, maybe that will shift some of the crap on it.

but anyway, back to the grow....

IF u use some training, u can prob manage, i know i grew in small places with only 2 n half feet height, but had bulbs at top, if u got them hooked over your poles at top and positioned in middle u can use full tent height but need train n keep the plants from touchin bulbs too much.. In the end i got a setup installed in a wardrobe for the greater height.. it just makes things easier, tho the tent would be fine then for starting plants in, and u would only need some smaller cfl to do that with, instead of the larger envirolites. And use the envirolites in the wardrobe set up with more height.. i would say save n get a good reflector to put them in tho, figure on space if u can get two bulbs n their reflectors in there..

thanks kooki,

im not sure how to position the CFL's horizontally, what kind of material can i tie the tube end with? and fo rthat matter, the ballast (hot) end?

i thought about a vertical scrog, but not sure if i've got the wattage for that (mentally and in terms of lights)

personally i would hang from the poles . wrap cord around and fix with something like electrical tape and just let them be vertical.. i wouldnt hang from the bulb or anything. Or i would save for a proper reflector. I have gone ghetto with grows before and in the end u are always fixin n repairing things till u decide no more... i gonna do it right. :D
And as for lights u have a 200w blue and a 125w red? thats fine for the space , i use only a 125w red enviro and 110watts of mixxed smaller cfl in my cab at the moment...so less than what u got
