my led creation

working on creating a 4x8 panel of 1w leds... will be purchasing 3000 single edison point series s going for 75%reds 15%blues 10% white... retail for about 1 dollar 20cents per led i can get them for a buck wen buying the lot of 3000. so imagine 3000 watts of led over a boticare aerojet 8tray. i was reading that each 1w produces around 60 lumens so x 3000 would make 180,000... 40,000 more then a single 1000w hps... am i looking at this wrong? do the lumens multiply expotenially when adding additional leds? if so what is the equation? i would think 3000w led would give off waaay more lumens then 3 1000w hps

ok so ive decided to shrink this down to a 4x4 31 leds by 31 for a total of 961 watts.. im ordering 40 degree angle for light distribution. instead of the ones that come with the sunshinesystem they are upwards of a 100 degrees which causes light loss. i wonder how a 1000hps will compare to this? i need some led guys to get on here an hit me with some knowledge such as how i wire these together? what i need to wire them? where can i get the circuit board??

Hey man there's a lot of LEDheads on the micro forum. I would ask there. I think you'll have quite a steep learning curve (cliff?) ahead of you - I found it pretty hard to understand and gave up. Good luck.

I have been curious about LEDs for a while but not paying much attention because they're expensive right now. CREE is running the game hard right now and should have some serious new tech over the next few years. I'm checkin it out.
You had me going with a fuckin 4'x8' man, haha that's some serious LED action. I say scale back up. Screw 4'x4'!

if youre buying that many i bet u can find you a good deal from china, i also found some 100w leds for 100 each. save ya about 2gs

would be cool if you just create a bunch of like 1x1 rooms depending on the led size to test out all the new shit coming out eveyday
