My landlord pays electric.How big of setup?

My landlord pays my electricity and I'm not really really sure what I can get away with. He is a pretty chill guy, never even comes in my place. Very respectful.
I got the growing bug and I wanna start a bunch of veggies with my mj (along with more mj) so I figure I should get more light since I have the space. If he didn't pay my electric I would run a thousand but I think thats out of the question. Right now I am running a 250w cmh, 265 blower and medium size os fan. In veg I run a 110w t5 and small fan. But I want to get another 250w cmh for 500 watts of cmh and a 465 fan. Is this to much? Think he will notice? Would I be better off with a 400w cmh and a 465 fan?

shit if he has to raise rent 20/30 bucks to cover it be happy to pay it

i agree with not killing the goose for the eggs u have but at same time its your house u pay rent why not have more egg's...

offer him 20/30 more a month tell him your adding some thats gonna cost that much ie small a/c,fish tank,bigger tv ect..... he dont come in your place dose he?

I say step up to a 600w. Hell, 650w pc power supplies are common place. Tell him you've upgraded your computer (gaming, overclocking, etc) if he has any questions. That way you can use the CMH for veg and have lots of nugs around all the time.

Me and my son share it so we updated it so he can play his games on the PC.

id sugest the 250cmh/or 400cmh for flower and the 110Wfloro(thoes are actualy good!) for veg...
do you have a gas or elec stove?
elec go with 400...gas go with 250...
that should be hideable...im assuming your going to get a tent.
just replace all the bulbs with CFL's if u can.

Seeing as how we all know your landlord intimately, I would not hesitate to use the 1000 watter. Tell him that you are running XXXX equipment and offer to pay extra for the juice. He'll think, what a great guy you are for offering. Problem solved.

Listen, just take the oven chord, wire it to an intermatic timer, and - assuming this is a forty amp circuit - hang eight 1000w's and watch the bud roll in. If the landlord has any questions, just tell him you have a new industrial pottery kiln, and you don't mind paying an extra $400 a month

Seriously, though, I don't know where you are, but in my neck of the woods, BC, a jump in electrical and an awkward explanation would ring bells, as growing is so common. You would have been better off using more juice from day one... so off to the time machine!

omfg! no one asked how BIG your place is?! 1 bedroom? 5 bedroom? makes a differance! whats the 'normal' temp is your area? in cali its almost 90 @ 2am so alot of ppl have a/c on right now....

Awesome input everyone thanks! I know I shouldn't kill what I have but I figure if I am going to risk it might as well have a nice big stash,
A 600 seems a bit big but I guess thats really only 100 more than I'm looking for and I have seen some really great nugs from some of you 600 watters. What I am thinking after everyones suggestions is a 400w cmh and the 465, maybe I would be better off with a smaller inline fan?
I do have a gas stove but I don't have to many things that run electricity up, pretty much I have my grow, a 30 gallon reef tank with 2 55w t5s, alarm clock and a laptop w/ some small speakers. No tv or anything and I also almost forgot I have a swamp cooler as I live in a 1 bedroom attic, but its a pretty good size. My building is an old house converted to apartments and everyone is on the same meter so theres no telling where the jump in the electricity is coming from, I guess I should have mentioned this.
Right now where I am at the night temps (which is when the light is on) are somewhere in the mid 70's low 80's so not to bad. In the grow room with my current set up it gets no higher than 83 but stays at a pretty constant temp of 77 and the light is about 5 inches from the canopy. My veg room never goes over 80.
I know you guys can't say because you have never met my landlord but he is a really cool guy. I am pretty sure that even if he happened to see my grow he would most likely ask me to take it down and find the plants fascinating. He is an old hippie himself, we have a lot of the same music interests.

You might feel him out to see what he thinks of people who grow their own. It is possible that if you and he had some sort of "arrangement," he might just turn a blind eye.

I don't know if I would feel comfortable asking him that. It would just be something he could hold over my head. I really don't even want the thought of growing in his head. Better safe than sorry. He could freak out and tell me I am growing on his dollar. He is kinda frugal. Then I would be stuck with no meds and that would suck....bad!
