My first clone

Hi all,

I've rooted my first clone, it's from my outdoor MasterKush plant. It rooted after 1.5 weeks. I thought I failed again at cloning and took it out of the rockwool cube it was in... But surprisingly this time my method worked and it had created some little side roots, I immediately got out a little pot and filled it with potting soil and put the clone in it.
Here's a pic the day I put it into soil:

I still keep her under the dome with only 1 fluoro light above it because she would be too weak for the 400 watt HPS

Here's a pic a week later:

NOw I am wondering is this normal things go so slowly? Or did I shock it by pulling it out of the rockwool cubes and does it need time to recover? If so when can I see some fast growth? And how do I know it's ready for the 400 watt HPS?

peace & thx!

Sorry for double post but basically I'm wondering, if I keep her in these conditions will she make it?

So I should transplant her? I know I quickly picked out soil out of the bag, had no perlite at home it was an emergency.. I do reckon that the soil doesn't dry out very fast though (because it's under the dome)

edit: btw, I didn't give her water for a week and the soil's still wet

No big deal. Just remix with alot of perlite and repot when you get a chance. It might not kill the clone to sit moist but growth will be slower. If the potting soil does not contain dolomite lime, you might should add some to supply calcium and magnesium.(unless you add this with your water) You could also mix in powdered gypsum into the soil to supply sulfur.(unless you add this with your water) Don't add gypsum without adding dolomite lime because you would have alot of calcium and no magnesium with just the gypsum by itself.

Thx, I add it by water :)
Well atm still no perlite at home, can I use small clay pebbles that I mix into the soil to get more oxygen to the roots?

These ones, I have a lot of them..

My garden shop doesn't sell perlite, so can these when mixed into soil give more oxygen to roots too?

Ok, I got a question..
My other clones are rooted too, I got a 4 on 4 rate :woohoo:

Now I am wondering, since this roots are still small would it be better to wait before putting them under my HPS light (400 watt)?

I can let them sit in the cloning tray under a 36 watt fluoro light, would this be the best solution? I want the fastest growth rate but I also dont want to kill my clones...Is it true that clones with too little roots would eat themselves or something?

Oh, here's a pic when I put them in the pots, I used small hydroton pebbles I mix in the soil as suggested

atm they are under 1 fluoro light, but I am wondering if they would be ready for the HPS because I still have 1-2 weeks left to veg them and then all my plants go into flowering.
What would give the best result? :chin:

thanks!

You should wait a little more under fluorescents before putting it under the HPS....
I suggest you should wait until the roots comes out of your the rockwool cube and when it will, not before, you could put it in your hydro system or in your soil. For the moment the root system is too smal and the plant is still feed with her leaves, so HPS could damage it easily (higher evaporation from leaves, higher lumens, humidity dicreasing, etc...)
You just have to wait ....and stop tearing the rockwool like you did on the picture 'cause you could now damage the tiny "hairs" of the rooting sytem which feed the plant....
Have a nice homegrow :)

lol I know about tearing the rockwool cubes, it was just a check...wont hurt em too bad
Thx! I will leave them under the fluoro then
