well i did my second ever run of bubble last night

lets just say my first attempt went OK... the smoke was/is great but i wasnt 100% happy with the results... i didnt blame my bubble bags... i didnt blame the plant material... i blame my poor technique

so off i went to try and improve... and i did... and im sure there is even more room for improvement... practice makes perfect

this is were you experienced guys can laugh at me :pointlaug

well this last run was from 1 plant... trim and popcorn buds... not sure the weight of the material used

i did 3 runs of the same material through the bags i only have pics of the first 2... i honestly expected to get nothing from the 3rd run... but i actually got a nice sized ball from it (which i am currently 'testing' :joint: )

im using the 1 gallon 7 bag bubble bag kit

1st run i used the 220, 120, 73, 45, 23.... mixed on low for 10 minutes
2nd run i used the 220,190,120,73,45,23... mixed on high for 20 minutes
last run (not pictured)i used the 220, 190, & 23... mixed for 5 minutes

in every pic the ball to the left is from the first run... on the right is 2nd run

in the pic with all the grades of hash... i also put in whats left of my first bubble run

the 3rd run actually produced alot more then i expected... makes me wonder iif i should of pushed it to a 4th run before throwing out the material... hmm :chin:

well without wasting anymore text (i cant shut up when im this high :woohoo: )

This ziploc baggie is the plant material used... popcorn buds & trim... dried then frozen for 24 hours

all 4 grades (the extra bits are from last weeks bubble)

You didn't comment on your ice, you might let us know. There is almost no such thing as too much ice. The water should be ice cold, and the material you put in there should be frozen. We want COLD. That will break off the trichomes right away, in the first stir, helping to get rid of plant matter and other contaminants.

Stir with a big wooden spoon, and only for about 5 minutes. Don't beat the material, at least the first run, with anything electric. Then let it settle for about 30 minutes. Then pull the bags, all of them, and see what you have. When it dries this will be the premium stuff. Now you can go back with the mixer and get the rest of the material - grade B.

Those little balls look good, but are they totally dry on the inside? It's better to powder it over cardboard (to absorb moisture) and leave it in a dry place for a few days. You can then smoke it like that, or you can press and work it into a ball, or drop it into a hash press. Mold can form inside a ball, and by the time it works itself to the surface, it is totally ruined. It was ruined the moment mold started to form.

The above is my personal opinion, based on my personal experiences, and may differ from others experiences. That, and two "test" hits of a run I did today. All powdered and in the drying area on paper/cardboard. Ahhh, the "side effects" of being medicated.

yeah i used a ton of ice... i was going to do the wooden spoon thing then i figured since i didnt have much material that it might not of been worth the little bit i could get from it... next harvest im going to have alot more to work with so i think ill go for one run of super high quality first

i did have them all on the cardboard but not for a couple of days... they were on the carboard for about 12 hours at most... then i pressed them into the balls.... too soon?

the mold has me worried... is there anything i can do now to assure they dont mold? and as far as storage goes... would film canisters in a cabinet be OK or do they have to be in the fridge?

thanks for the tips!

Yeah, a smaller harvest may not give you much. But the big harvest will be great.

Yep, maybe too soon off the cardboard. It may look dry, but looks aren't everything. There's still moisture inside the little chunks of powder. Let it go a little (24 hours) longer. Just to make sure, I leave mine about 48 hours, but the locatiuon in my house is warm, a slight motion of air, and out of the way of two cats. :pointlaug

At that point it is ready to set fire to, and inhale the vapors, or store it for the future. :yummy:

As to the mold, the best way to avoid it is to smoke it right away! :yummy: To help, film cannisters in the fridge or freezer should do fine. I store mine there sometimes - if I'm not going to use it sometime soon. I use small bottles from the science supply business. Real handy.

Best of luck - and cruise around and find out how others store theirs. There are some good ideas all over the site.

imho the 160µ bag is very imortant it does a great job of cleaning out lots of contaminents.
I have been making fmcd 73µ well before the 120µ bags came along. and the 160µ has much to take credit for.
another tip for getting better bubble is to trim ones plants better, many people leave the best bubbling trim still on their buds. cleaning your buds real good makes for cleaner bublle as well.
