My DR120 Zipper broke before, but now it's REALLY broken

I posted a while back about 1/2 of the main zippers on my dr120 coming off the track. Well I tried to put it back on the track, and when I tightened it down with my thumb+index finger, the fucking thing broke in a hundred pieces.

Now I've got it ghetto-rigged with duct tape and I'm pissed off. I've also noticed that it's not completely light-proof (I don't have the street version.) On the zipper/corner seams there are small light holes.

So I've got to fix these 2 problems (I'm not sure if the light holes are an issue, I ran a crop fine with no hermies but I don't want to take chances really.)

any ideas for putting on a new zipper and/or fixing the holes? I've thought about taking it to a dry cleaner or something but that seems sketchy: "Hi I've got this uhm... 'tent' here I need a zipper fixed on. Nevermind that reflective film. Mind your own fuckin business."

P.S. God damnit, and TIA.

I'm thinking velcro will totally work. Thanks for the idea, I'll pick it up at home depot and try it when I move the tent (moving to a new place.)

My DR 80 has pen holes right where yours are at also

I'll give it another go...

1) Duct tape?

2) How bout silicone caulk. just smear a bit in the holes (thread holes?) with your fingers?

3) And / Or, just wrap the outside of the whole unit in black plastic?

(I've done all 3 with my home-built plywood cab. ...used to be very leaky...)

isn't the DR120 covered by some kind of warranty? are you guys unzipping your tents really fast or what? I have heard a lot of good things about them- and I was this |--| close to getting one but I need your opinions on the dr120 before I buy one, I was looking at the BG hydro kit that has the hangers ducting vortech fan and a carbon scrubber for 500$

I read that the older styles had problems with zippers. You might want to contact BGhydro and ask. They my help you out. I have one of the newer DR40s for my mothers, I have a few pin holes but not that worries some. No product is perfect but my ladies love their home. Out of all the tents out there the DRs seem like the best but thats my 2 cents.

Hey all....I have the DR80(regular version) and I got a bunch of the mini pin holes as well in the zipper..I do also have several of these pinholes where the sides bend(at the 90 angle) I guess from the stretching material, but no problems what so ever for the plants...Well I have run 2 grows in it so far and the holes don't seem too be an issue. I have vegged and flowered in the same DR and 0 hermies....Keep it safe....Wedgy

DR120 Material Sucks

DR120 Material Sucks

Although they don't off gas, the Secret Jardin material is crappy. Little more than foil sprayed with synthetic material on the outside. I have seen tears and holes from minimal use. The tent of a hydrohut is at least 5 times as durable and I am quite disappointed by the quality of the tents. The side windows for access are great and the lack of toxic fumes are great. But the plastic connectors and flimsy material is shit at best. I am going to go DIY and buy 2x4 studs and black/white poly next time. I have had mine a week and have had a broken corner piece and a few minor tears that I have had to put tape over. I had a hydrohut for a few grows. Durability was great and they are as good as new. Too bad they off gas and I can't reach the plants in the back corners very easily. The DR120 is great for access and healthy plants, too bad I spent over 200 bucks for a low quality tent. I don't understand how they can be satisfied building such a piece of crap. Save yourself the money and buy some studs, wood screws, and poly. I would much rather spend 300 bucks on something that will last and not off gas than 220 bucks on both of these companies "made in China" bullshit. :bashhead:
