Mutt Queen

These plants come from some pollen chucking of a mutt male (from a crossing of a crossing focused on pine smell and quick frosty finish) and a female Queen Anne's Revenge that smelled like carrots, cherries, lime and woodines. Sprouted on Aug 9 and first 12/12 started on Sep 2. Earliest pic is from transplant day (one day before 12/12) and the most recent one if from today (Oct 6). Growing four females under one Spider Farmer SF1000. They really took off right after 12/12, started off a 5 inch bushes and now all around 3 feet minus two plants that were manhandled of which one was accidentaly decapitated

Will try to post weekly updates until harvest which will probably start in just under 4 weeks from now, one of them (the decapitated one) is ahead and the latest will probably go for 5 more weeks. So late October and early November harvest it seems like. Now just on to the pics from day 21 from sprout (one day before 12/12 and up until today which is day 35 of flowering. Hope the pics work, just thought I would share if anyone is interested :) Edit: I put the pics in chronological order but doesn't come up that way after posting. The pics say which day they are on, wish they came in the correct order but no biggie :p Edit 2: Now they seem to be in the correct order!

Starting to fill out now - pics from today (Oct 11). I think this is day 40 of 12/12 +/- a day or so. I rearranged them to get maximum light for all the plants. So for the decapitated one (front left) is the quickest and best smelling one. Smells like those stickers I brought to school in the 80's that gave off a grape/cherry smell when you rubbed them together with a slight carroty smell that the mother QAR had.

Biggest yielder (and biggest plant over all) is the one in the back left, she is turning purple and seems hungrier than the rest of the plants, leaves are paler/and some yellowing happening together with the purpleing.

Pics are a group shot and a macro of the decapitated one and a macro of the roughly trained one with a half broken stem. The decapitaed one and this one with the half broken stem are quite similar overall.

FluxCherry, hope you will like 'em! I grew out some pure QAR that finished in May this year (some crappy pics of that grow in my gallery). The results from this cross is faaaar better than that grow though - could also be that I upgrade the light from a Mars Hydro TS600 with 25 % broken diodes to a Spider Farmer SF1000 and in general this has just been a better grow regarding temperature, humidity and so on.

There is definitely a lot of QAR-influence in this "Mutt Queen" so I guess you can expect similar results! If you have the time and energy it would be cool if you could start a grow journal :)

For FluxCherry and anyone else interested, took photos of each plant.

#1 is the biggest, gonna be a great yielder. The most sativa looking one. First plant to fade/turn purple and the stems are also purple. I think this is leaning towards the bloodwreck that is in the QAR. A little bit slower than the rest/will probably be harvest last and will most likely be very purple/reddish towards the end. Not as frosty and nice smelling as #2 and #3 - at least not yet.

# 2 is the one i accidentally decapitated. Seems quite quick, looks to be ready in about two weeks and a few days. The lower branches/smaller buds could definitely benefit from more time. This one is the frostiest and best smelling one (cherry/grape/slight dank carrot and a hint of pine from the father which is one of my own crosses). Definitely faster flowering than the mother QAR used in the cross.

# 3 I manhandled and semi-broke the top - doesn't seem to mind though. Similar in smell and looks to #2, will probably take a few days longer but this one and #2 are the most similar ones and my two favourites.

#4 Is the one that probably expresses most of the fathers traits, the most indica-behaving of the four. If it is a bit closer to my howngrown cross that fathered these beans, the buds should fatten up a fair bit more and it will be a bit later with the frost compared to #2 and #3.

I don't know if the photos will end up in order, but you can tell which plant is which by my naming of the pics.

Another update from today, a group shot and a close up of #2 (decapitated one). Moving along well, really packing on frost and filling out the budsites - major purpling happening on most plants. Sligthly cooler temps, around 70 F (21 C) at night now in the tent. Today is day 43 of 12/12 - first plant comes down in a week at day 50 I reckon (#2) but lower branches might stay on for longer, very far behind the rest of the plant.

Another quick update at 47 days of 12/12. Might chop two plants in about five days, the other two have at least two weeks left. Groupshot and a closeup of a lower bud on plant #3 - very frosty and most trichomes look milky to me. They are getting way smellier this past week or so - in a good way :D

Hey there FC! When I grew the pure QAR earlier this year, I got mostly leather and carrots in veg. Nothing to write home about. Then in flower a sweeter danker carrot with a bit of cherry (interesting!), then when dried and cured I got lime in the mother that was used for this cross. So dankcarrotcherrylime would be the best description I can give.

The cross/plants I'm growing now did not have the leathery smell but shared the carroty type of smell with the mother. Now/close to harvetst plants #2 and #3 (the more purple ones) are more cherry/berries and less carrot than the pure strain. Also skunkier/stronger smell than the original. Plants #1 and #4 I have honestly not "studied" as closely, after I chop down #2 and #3 in a few days I will pay more attention to them and try to describes, up until now they have not been as impressive in the forst and terp department but they are slower.

Might as well update as well, group shot and some closeups of plants #2 (decapitated one) and #3 (manhandled one). I took some early samples/the two tops from plant #2 so they are no longer on the plant. Photos from day 50 of 12/12 - I think plant #2 and #3 are just a few days off from the chop, three - five days I reckon - I am getting a bit impatient, ran out of the old stash about three weeks ago :p

Plants #1 (biggest yielder by far!) and #3 have lots more white pistils and less frost/they will need another 10 - 12 days or so from today I reckon.

Here is a little samplenug I took a few days ago from plant #2 (decapitated one). Dry but not cured, just put in a jar but will sample tonight/will be gone long before it's cured :D

sure is pretty!
Thanks man :) Like a sparkly little gem, ha ha. You got some awesome pics yourself, hope you do a journal of the future QAR-grow, First two plants (#2 and #3) are coming down tomorrow. I've got quite a lot of seeds of this F1 "Muttqueen" so if something goes sour with your pure QAR-grow I'd be happy to gift some seeds/see what a more accomplished grower can get out of my dirty work - I am actually more impressed with this cross than the straight QAR but could be because of better light and growing conditions this time around :)

i apperciate the offer but i have far to many projects of my own going. I just got 20xQAR (regs) for future project with a Dr.Who from Subcool Genetics, A part of TGA seeds, and Mz jill the makers of QAR. A fire took most of his plants and a few years later he died. anything from that Crew is super special. some of the nicest people and plants.

I saw pics of the doctor - looks like an awesome plant! Should be a nice cross for sure :)

I'm rounding off this journal now - pics from yesterday of the two remaining plants. Will cut them down tomorrow after 61 days of 12/12.
