Music / Sound to stimulate plant growth?

S

Has anyone ever used sound or music to help their plants grow? I know there have been some studies done in the past but a lot of it was inconclusive. Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with it resulting in something positive.

Been stuck in a late 70s Jimmy buffett kick for the last month and the vegging plants seem to love it. Sadly the clones not so much.

A friend plays Mozart to his seedlings under a T5 rack, for 2-3 weeks

he claims a 30% increase against the silent ones ...lol

Mythbusters did a stunt on tv that fell way too short

to call honest

after much study trial and error, he claims the classical s sound more like bird sounds ...?

and avoid heavy modern music tho appealing to humans won't work for plants

good luck

Lower frequencies would move the most air.

Repeated loud low frequency sounds would have an effect somewhat like an oscillating fan.

+ driving the neighbors crazy.

The plants growing on the same table as a pair of fans have containers that vibrate with the fans, even the leaves shiver a little.
I hoped it would stiffen the trunk better than a breeze.

But instead there was no detectable difference between vibrating plants and non vibrating plants.
With all the home gardeners (herbs, flowers, and spices) growing plants indoors if a particular set of vibrations were helpful it would not be 'maybe'. Biologists the world round would be investigating the specifics.

During trimming sessions the music is chosen in rotation, sometimes the more rowdy selections shake the ceiling and floor above, would be nice if that helped the plants grow.

I've read that classical is best for music, but bird sounds are better than music. I've still not seen anything I'd call conclusive. -granger

Have you heard of Sonic Bloom?

If you sing to them it will be guaranteed to have a small growth effect. You're breathing co2 on them! :dunno:

seen these?

edit: sativaking already linked it... sounds groovy but not sure I'll be forking out that kinda cash anytime soon...

edit2: heres the bumpf but translated from Dutch -

Revolution, the new Green Revolution.
Biowave machines send subsonic harmonic waves. These resonate with the frequencies of plants which dilate the stomata. At the same time drive the waves critters away.
Laboratory, farm and Hydroponics tests have confirmed an average yield increase of 20%. The tests performed by Silliker Labs have demonstrated an increased production of 15-24% for tomatoes and other vegetables.
Dilated stomata means that the plant can breathe better, have better photosynthesis and produce more fruit and vegetables.
Biowave offers three products at present. One is to use solar energy for outside the company. The other two works on mains electricity for greenhouses and aquaculture sectors. All machines are made of stainless steel.

I read about sonic bloom a while back...claim the stomata open up for the music....then you spray the magical potion on your plants (jasmonic acid of some sort)

...I'm guessing the hormone spray is probably the big enhancer in the system...

....then again, I tend to indulge a little extra on beverages when I'm at a concert! Lol
