Thanks guys. We have all had our caps come off in the bag, etc. I feel like if I know for sure that I will be drying them and storing them, I prefer a nearly closed, barely ripped cap because I think the shrooms' structural integrity persists better for long term storage and every one gets a cap with their shroom, even after drying.
The strain on this grow was B+. I prefer not to sterilize my casing but pastuerize it instead as I survive triderma for a longer period of time and can get usually three flushes out of a cake. What I have found is with a well cased cake, depth of the cake will allow far larger shrooms-- both cake and casing need greater depth. I fruit on a layer of wet perlite in a chamber with a tyvex air intake. The tyvex is taped inside and outside to a 4x6 inch hole in the chamber. So the air has to travel through two layers of tyvex. But I forgot the ceiling of my chamber, so the fruit of my larger cakes kept hitting the ceiling.
