Multiple lights vs one light?

I asked this question a while back but did not get a really good answer. Right now I have a hood that houses a 400 and a 250 which adds up to 650 watts (duh). Now we all know that a 400 will not penetrate like a 600 and a 250 will not penetrate like a 400, etc... The setup I have now is cool because I get to grow with dual spectrums, yields are good, not great. I used to be a 1000 watt grower, but I moved. I would now like to move to a 600 but only if the heat would stay the same. So does anyone know the answer to this question: What is hotter, one 600 watt bulb or 650 watts which is a 400 and a 250? I'm thinking that a 600 will be hotter???
Thanks

Theoretically the 400+250 will generate more heat, but a bit more dispersed than the 600. Also a 600 generates more lumens per watt than a 400+250. However, I think what you have is fine, and switching to a 600w will only result in marginal differences (if any).

go with the 600 it is more efficient than the 400 or 1000 so that means you get near 1000 watt light out put with near 400 watt heat production.

I'd say about the same (heat)

600W= 90.000 lumen
1kW= 130.000 Lumen
Theres a big difference
