Multiple electric accounts, different homes, same name

Does anybody know if electric companys have any issues during sighnup, or if it raises red flags during, if the same person has various addresses....

each bill about 4-500 a month...a pretty big bill....

Not California or any med state...

Are multiple electric accounts in the same name a problem?

2 seem ok. 2-4 depending if you are in a big city or not.

I think i could have 2 accounts in my area without a problem.

But i am giving you what my comfort zone is...

If you are going to put all the bills in one name, then start up "420 real estate holdings" and put all the bills in that name.

I have seen numerous people with legit rentals get multiple bills, no issues.

You may not really want to use 420 holdings but you get the point :)

Thanks for the responses folks.

Me being the landlord with accounts in my name sounds very reasonable.

Do I have to get a real legal business name to do it or can I just make up a business name and give it to the elec. company?

i use a different name and ss# for every house. there is no computer at the power companies that matches up ss# with a name to see if they go together.

they will ask for a name and ss# to see if you owe them money.

random name, random ss# and your good, just make sure you remember them.........

This, or put it under your girl/friends name.

WHAT? They don't check the name and SS# to see if it's real???????

nope. neither does any power, cable, water or garbage company!

been doing this for 10+ years.....

there is NO data base that can match up ss#'s with a name, except for the government, these companies are not the government.....

I would assume that you use the same fake name for all the utilties you use for each particular house so the mailman doesnt get suspicious?

yes, i choose a name and ss#. then create accounts with that name only. just remember to write it all down!

funny story. i moved into a brand new house in a nice gated community. i choose the name of a famous baseball player. 4 cable trucks showed to install my cable, along with there autograph books and memorabilia. it was so fucking funny! they had me calling there boys, just to say hi and that they met me and all, it was classic!

Not unless any op at any address comes under an investigation.

If so, you've basically just handed them all of them, instead of just the one that investigation identified at time initiated.

Kind of defeats the purpose of having separate ops in the first place.

So, yes. It's a big fuckin problem, and one that actually escapes most people until too late.

Landlord? Tenant paid?

Yeah, sure. No problem, except:
1. An owner typically does not pick up peoples 500 a month electrics.
2. An investigation would turn up quick what kind of building and if usage warranted, and also check the units to see if building account and units account separate.
B. Power would be among the first things checked.
3. If your never going to go near (ever) the op itself, it probably would still not work, as before they knew you didn't (have anything to do with it/go near it) they would find the other accounts with similar usage and whether present or not, your then a suspect as part of the conspiracy.

Multiple Ops 101:
Each location separate names, not linked in any way.

They get one, they go into accounts, they have them all within minutes. (Would actually strengthen case)

Never give them anything. They want it, make it as much work as possible to bring it down.

Power/use comes into play as part of an investigation.

my landlord in college paid for everything (elec/water/cable/internet) all under his name (with multiple properties) then we paid him via and all inclusive bill each month (through e-mail.) that bastard forgot to pay the cable/internet bill every other month at least and it was always getting shut off :whistling:

but agree with the rest of your points.

I'm well versed on properties, ownership, multiples, utilities included, etc....

$500+/- each unit a month?.....:smoke:.....NNNnah. :smoke: (Water is usually ridiculously low, depending on region. Gas similar. Cable the same, etc....)

Even on larger buildings, where one might pay the cumulative electric of grounds and interiors and such, still not that high......

I've touched in one way or another 600+/- properties in.....17-18 years, and, electric included never done.

If done?, well, if it hit $500 a month or more, sure it would no longer be included :smoke:

Note of caution for rentals:
Among the many incidents I had when younger (very :biglaugh:) and using rentals, one involved owner and maintenance having to have an "emergency" inspection of all kitchens and bathrooms/plumbing, because his quarterly water bill came in and had skyrocketed :biglaugh:

They thought it was a leak somewhere......:smoke: Bathroom door was across the hall from 2 bedroom doors :smoke:....kitchen by a 3rd :biglaugh:.......

Never found a leak though anywhere........guess someone was using enormous amounts daily or something :biglaugh:.....
