Multi Outlet Timer

Hey guys, I was reading around about these timer boards, definately something to work up to when I expand. But for now, I dont quite need all that. What I am wanting to do, is find the best way to control maybe 3 outlets from one timer. 1 1000w HPS, and 2 225 cfm inline fans for the hoods. The people in the house before me were growing, so they ran a dedicated line to the attic, it has one receptacle (two outlets). I have a powerstrip plugged into one, and a the light into the other. Well, I want to get my light and my fans together, and use the powerstrip for all pumps, and other crap. I have an electrician buddy to help with any of this, just trying to figure out what I need to do before I talk to him. Should I just use 3 timers, one for the light, and two on the power strip (for the fans). And if thats the case, I think I'll need more room for plugs. Is it safe to run the light through a powerstrip as well? Or plug a powerstrip into another powerstrip? Or can I even plug a powerstrip into a timer to control all of the outlets on it? Sorry for all the question, thinking to hard about this :confused: I know theres a simple way to do it, its just eluding me at the moment.

I wouldn't run a 1k through a strip personally...it's probably fine, but every additional plug that's inline is another possible point of failure.

Assuming this is a 120v circuit, why don't you get an Intermatic T101 or T103 and just wire some outlets on the timed output side of it? That'd make sure that all the devices stayed synched up and would leave plenty of available amperage incase you wanted to add another light or two (again assuming the circuit can handle them).

Basically you just run a male plug/wire into the input side and run a short piece of 12/2 wire off the output side to a gang box with a couple outlets installed in em.

Here's how they get wired:

So in a nutshell, your wires will run like this

Hot (black) - wall plug > Screw 1 on timer
Common (white) - wall plug > Screw A on timer
Ground (Green or bare) - wall plug > Ground screw on timer

Then on the output side, you'll run it like this

Hot - Screw 2 on timer to gold screw on outlet(s)
Common - Screw A on timer to silver screw on outlet(s)
Ground - Ground screw on timer to ground screw on outlet(s)
