Moving plants into 30 degree garage for 3 hrs - results?

I am about to have an inspection on my home in an hour or so, including my basement, where I grow. It's an inspection I want - to get funding for weatherization. I've pretty much torn out the inside of my grow room, only the exterior walls remain. If anything comes up about the room, I'm just going to casually mention that it was a photography darkroom at one point. Not really worried about that aspect.

What I AM concerned with is the plants. There were 4 small ones in veg and 2 larger ones in flowering. I bundled them up in black bags and sleeping bags and they are going to sit in my garage (no lights) for about 3 hrs until the inspector leaves.

My question is, how to recover them quickly? I'll have to get my lights set back up ASAP of course. I know I'm taking a big chance that they'll die. Anyone else done this - a big temp drop for a few hrs?

Thanks!

May I suggest a heater or some sort, either a space heater, or a propane heater, something........ it would take like 30 seconds to set one up.

There are FOUR lights!

The cold is OK, but warm them back up slowly, or you could have shock.

How long do you think it should take to warm them gradually, 12 hrs or so? I can bring them back inside and set them on my cold basement floor for a while, then stick them back into their growroom. Should they have lights while adjusting?

I don't think they'll care or suffer any harm at all. Just stick em back in the room when the inspection is done. 12 hrs to warm them back up ?? Why??

I don't agree with this. The cold is what *could* slow the growth temporarily and I choose those words carefully because three hours is a relatively short period of time. We know for a fact that cooler temperatures have an effect on transpiration and dark respiration.

Move them back into their normal home ASAP...

they will be insulated, as stated.....therefore the plants will never get to that temperature. i say youd be perfectly fine. they could sit in the dark for 24 hours if need be, ive done it. not the 30 degree part. but sounds like youll be ok

You'll be just fine. I've only had problems with temps lower than 30 when the plants are in that enviorment for more than a day, the temps arent really a prolem, the rate at which the soil dries out is.

Get them some mini-sweaters or they'll get cold! Think about their feelings!

Overkill is under-rated.

Throw an LED flashlight in each bag if your photoperiod is important (like in flower.) Same goes for boxes and Uhaul trucks too. Cheap way to keep them happy and their photoperiod accurate.
