moving into a rental unit, going a little bigger

so after the next crop is gone (chop is somehwere around aug 5-12ish) me and another person are going to move into a new place. our plan is to get a 3 bed house (not a condo or apt), and use the 3rd bedroom to start.

i'll be running either just my two 600s flip flopped, or if i get ambitious enough i may put together a ballast flip flop so i can run 4 bulbs for flowering wattage of 2400. the other person will be doing the same thing. we both have jobs to support things so we wont have to depend on the grow.

i'm trying to make some of the bigger decisions ahead of time so that its not a mad scramble when we do this. i plan on running my 65 day super silver haze clone line for sure, and maybe one other strain. i've got mothers for GDP, critical mass, and i just popped 25 seeds of a strain i did a while ago called big momma (master kush x orange crush, flowers around 65 days).

i keep going back and forth on whether to build large cabs (4x4x7ft) and run a single table and light in each, or whether to just frame out the room with 2x4"s and use panda film to divide it up for veg/flower/flip flops. i also am torn on whether its worth the wattage and cost (where budget is tighter when we move in) to start off with A/C or air cool everything until later on when money is easier. i already own 6" air cooled hoods.

also an issue is how to rig up the electricity. it will be a rented house so running new circuits doesnt seem like a viable option. im not sure whether galaxy digital ballasts can be switched to run on 240v (after a quick search) but assuming they can (we're using them exclusively) i dont know if it would be worthwhile to snake extra wiring from the dryer outlet to the flower room and use that to power lighting. my current plan is just to use two 15a circuits for everything (i currently am able to do my whole rig on 15a using 1200w lights and associated equip).

as far as renting the house we're planning on having a rental agency / real estate agent help us find a place. from reading here that seems to be a good way to go about it.

for the rotation im planning on having dedicated space for my two aero cloners (50 sites each) and mothers, most likely under T-5s. the flowering plants will be in a SoG either in coco or hydroton (ill know which after i see yields from this run in hydroton) in ebb and flow tables. going to use GH nutes all around (lucas formula).

any advice you guys can offer would be great.

consider a cool basement where the electrics are convenient...washer/dryer...main box...exhaust vents...

you may actually be able to create a fake wall for stealth depending on your size...if the rental agency owns the house, the agents may not even notice it

Sounds tasty, what seedbank can I get that from? The only thing with rentals is make sure they aren't going to need to show it to possible tennants. A lot of landlords are just renting while they find a buyer. That is one advantage to living in a rental complex where the unit is not on the for sale market.

well we're going for a 1 year lease so hopefully that will exclude places that are on the market.

lysol - they're a locally bred strain that i was gifted seeds of. i made a few hundred F2s and since i gave away all my clones thinking i could get clones back later from someone (stupid mistake, everyone managed to kill them, including an experienced grower) i popped these seeds to try and have stock for next run.

lord doobie - growing in the garage wouldnt be a security risk? i figured this was a no-no since neighbors would wonder why the garage never ever opened. we were planning on using an upper-floor bedroom in whatever house, on the side away from the street.

1 year lease does NOT mean the house is not for sale. Do not make the same mistake I did. Ask explicitly and get it in writing in the lease. I signed a 1 year lease as well, one day I suddenly get a call that they need to show the house ( I cleared out and then they never showed it ) but the risk is there.

I will be following this one though. I would not be worried about the garage if it is a house. If its an apartment then hell no keep it out of the garage. My buddy rented a house with a huge back yard and a _huge_ shed!! ( he chickened out of letting me grow in the shed and we used the garage ). The previous owners kept dogs so there was a huge dog kennel and A/c in the garage, we just locked the doors, flipped on the ac and threw some tarps over the big dog kennel, had some henchmen clean up all the poop, and violla grow room.

To give you an idea of how secure this is ( and I know this is a bad bad bad idea ) he had many parties there, left plants in his backyard in direct sight of party guests ( first time I saw that I picked up the plant and threw it into the woods killing it  I was pissed cuz he was risking all my equipment). No one ever suspected a thing. Later on we moved it from the garage to another room because his pit bull kept knockin the AC unit out of hte window :dueling:
