Mountain John's White Rhino

Smoke Report

First, let's meet the team.

Now, the star.

Now the show begins!

The very first thing I learned about this bud was that it is not, in any way, stealthy. When I got through the third layer of wrapping, the smell poured out, to the extent that my kids in the next room asked 'What's that smell?'

Oops.

Once I got down to the bag itself, the aroma had wafted itself into a velvety fog radiating about ten feet, centered somewhere around my right pocket. Once I was safely ensconced in the carbon scrubbed growroom, I investigated the aroma more carefully.

As I took my nose into the bag, literally, I found myself enveloped in a muti-level aroma. The primary hit came in the form of the classic weed 'funk'. Not overwhelming or sharp, but more subdued, sneaking into your nose instead of mounting a frontal assault. Overlaying the funk is a smell that is hard to identify, like a spice you know but can't place. As I breathed deeply from the bag, I finally identified it. Menthol. Not the sharp twang of Halls or a menthol cigarette, but a warmer, fonder menthol. Imagine you're getting the blanket out of your Mother's closet, and you pull down the old 'sick blanket' from your childhood. That aroma, that reminds you of VaporRub years in the past, is closer. If you've ever walked into a room where someone had used tea tree oil hours before, you know the smell.

Having satisfactorily identified the smell, I sat down to have a closer look at the bud, to check its 'bag appeal'. Pictures really do speak a thousand words, don't they?

Finally, it was time to move on to the taste test. I settled back, and packed in a half a bowl. Just enough to give me four or five good, deep hits, my usual session. I took two hits, examining the taste, 'chewing' the smoke.

Surprisingly, where the aroma had been a heavy, velvety fog, the taste was like a light breeze. Smooth, but brisk, it rolled around your tongue, leaving all the tastebuds it past tingling in a classic funk. Very complex and flavorful, it left you with the notion a sunk had died a ways over, maybe a few months ago? You know the flavor I'm talking about. The menthol seemed to have disappeared, but as I exhaled the second bowl, I found it again. It had found its way into the stone.

As I set down the bowl, I noted the time, so I could gauge its 'creeper' quality. As I eased back at 6:49, I noticed that the menthol taste had reappeared on my tounge. A slight tingle was working its way off my tounge, and down into my chest. When it landed in my chest with a warm thud, it immediately sent tendrils creeping through my arms and legs. As I marveled, I realized it had snuck up into my head, and by then it was done - the stone had arrived. A glance at the clock told me it was 6:51.

Now, of course, it was time to finish the bowl for the potentcy test, and to find the peaks and plateaus of this tingling stone. So I whipped out the MP3 player, fitted the headphones, and began organizing the playlist for my session. A bit of Croce was nice, and Buffet is always good. Hey, that's great song too! We'll add that one while were at it. Hmm, maybe something with a bit more beat. Feelin' those country roots too, gotta get some Willy and Cash in there. Oh shit, I'm stoned as fuck!

How the hell did that happen?! I haven't been put down in two hits since I was 17!

As I glanced at the bowl, contemplating another hit, I noticed the clock again. 6:59. That's when I heard Kat Williams voice in my head - "I don't need that man, I got shit to DO today!"

If that doesn't sum up the potency for you, consider this-

I've been trying to get this posted ever since, and hopefully, the third time is the charm.

Aw crap bro, I just realized I left something out that was in the earlier attempts - I left out the credit to you.

That smoke was smooth as silk. Well flushed, well dried, well cured. A testament to the grower.

My compliments to the chef!

Yeah, but that's just the overtone. Imagine that the sick blanket was, not too terribly long ago, used to care for an injured skunk :D

Guys, much obliged for the props, but all credit goes to MtnJohn.

I didn't say it before, but that's what a smoke report should be. Describing every detail, making the reader feel like they're there.

Also, mtnjohn, for $15, those are some awesome buds. I've seen two amazing smoke reports from Nirvana products in the past few weeks, it's making that Nirvana 4 pack on seedbay looks like an amazing deal.
