Mother's Finest Stretch?

I'm really interested in that Mother's Finest strain from Sensi- heard some great things about its potency. Does it stretch much during flower- under a 1000w horti bulb, 2X2 ebb and flow, GH nutes, etc. If it were vegged to maybe a foot or so and then flowered, what might the final height be, and yield...
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Be prepared for lots of variation. Grow the whole pack, if not multiple packs.

Best ones are very stretchy and long flowering no yield but completely worth it. Crazy potent, lots of trichs, no weight. It's a personal & "impress your friends" smoke. Great combo of strong head high and stumbling physical reaction (can't walk straight). I only had one like this from a pack, was lucky to get it and stupid enough to not keep a clone of it (didn't look much impressive in veg). stupid stupid stupid.

Those that are bushy but leafy are not worth a second go around. You'll know em when you see em.

Some are fast (50 days), good yield and shorter, but not as interesting or exceptional high

Some are kind of a compromise of the above, which is probably the intend keeper.
It will stretch, but yield okay and be ready around 70 days.

Don't over-veg. Flower after a week or so, depending on your medium (enough to develop its root structure but not gain much height, 6" or so).

thanks a lot for the posts- was wondering if anyone was gonna respond- guess it was gonna have to be someone with experience with the plant, tho. Sounds like a lot of variance w/the stone... guess it's gonna be likely, given its multi-strain mix... I still am tempted to try it tho, just something about that strain for me... it got 3 reports on the dead OG, 2 of them had a 10 for potency... I know it got 1st at the 2002 HTCC too... I'll have to think about it some more...

i whole heartedly agree with the other posters in the thread, hlcn4462.
i was looking to do some extensive work with the strain a while back,
but was blessed with many a rare line which kept/is keepin me occupato

AFOM has a report on it here, done under smaller lights, and in SCROG situation.
his was one selection, tho, but out of all i had read of her on OG, his pheno seems prime.
here is the link to one of his grows with her in the screen setup Mother's Finest SCROG checkit

be well y'all:bongsmi:

in my humble experience with the MF, its as good as any and
always stood up to the "test"! :smoke:

and very good yields

Out of 6 seeds started from a Sensi Seeds "Mother's Finest" 15 pack all popped but one ended up dying, I forget exactly why but I remember it was some careless mistake on my part.

There were two primary appearances in veg- a mid/dark green more indica looking plant and a bushy lighter green more sativa pheno. Two of the 5 mothers exhibited the more indica look and of these two the one more prone to purple leaf stems (and perhaps a hair darker shade of green) turned out to be the Jack Herer pheno. This jack pheno plant grew just a little taller than its indica-like sister and had the least haze smell in veg of all the plants (all the others including the other indica-like one had a pleasant hazy smell in veg). The remaining 3 were virtually identical.

As soon as they were large enough two clones were taken from each plant. One of the sativa plants was unusually difficult to clone even after multiple future attempts. This hard-to-clone plant has been encountered by other growers of MF. One clone was topped once during veg while the rest had time to be topped a second time. That is, they were topped once, then the top two heads were clipped when they were topped the second time. The clones were all roughly 7 inches tall (small height due to second topping) or so when flowered and all turned out to be female. Flowering under 430w son agro hps caused 3 clones from two mothers to stretch like they were scared of the dirt. Within a month they were too tall to stay (3ft+ and growing) and were culled. 3 clones were flowered completely but got too close to the light and stalled briefly (2 more than 1), so I do not have accurate flowering times.

One jack pheno clone was flowered completely and produced a poor to average yield. This plant produced tight but not very fat buds along the length of the stems that were covered in a rediculous amount of crystal and was easy to trim. It produced very little smell in flowering. The high was instant, cerebral and VERY speedy despite the fact that all clones were harvested late after reading about the speedy phenos. More than one bonghit can give people serious jitters, especially cig smokers and heavy caffeine drinkers. Forget about getting any sleep on this bud. While very potent it's hands-down the least enjoyable high I've ever had. The smell and taste was a mix of pine and grass clippings. The taste got a little sweeter after 2 months curing but not by much and the grass clippings taste was still there.

The 2 clones of the slightly shorter indica-like plant that were topped a second time each produced 6-8 huge heads. Bone-dry each of these buds weighed between 10 and 16 grams. These two maxed out at about 2.5ft if even that and were much smellier than the jack. In flowering it was a pretty nice hazy smell with a kind of rank slightly sour smell underneath. Curing brought out this nasty smell and taste to a much more unpleasant degree. Once this was discovered they were dried completely to brittleness which provided a more enjoyable hashy taste. The high was much better than the jack but still a little speedy. It was a much hazier high- still no real body to it but if the jack expressed the speediest side of sativa highs than this one provides more of a blend of sativa highs. A multi-level mind-fuck. This one also is not good for sleeping but it doesn't keep people awake like the jack. THE best before-work wake'n'bake weed; it's a feel-good cup of coffee that wakes you right up and doesn't make you stupid at all. Even your eyes aren't bloodshot and half closed. A friend uses this pheno exclusively before she goes to work at a bank- it's stuff you can function on in sophisticated society without anyone knowing the difference as long as you don't smoke too much. Though this is considered the "indica" pheno there is nothing indica about the high so don't expect even a typical hybrid type of stone. It's like a short, fat indica plant that has a completely sativa high. The high also has no ceiling- you can smoke and smoke and smoke and keep getting higher untill the the jack side of it starts to build up and make your heart race.

Truly an amazing feat of breeding making such a short and fat sativa with an interesting high but it doesn't have any body to it. It's not the kind of stuff anyone really wants to smoke all the time, not alot of demand for it- below average sellability. Med users won't talk to you again if you give em anything this sativa. There are plans to cross this one with some Sensi Star atm to get a more balanced, relaxing high and of course to scrog clones of the super-tall haze pheno when there's room.

Yeah I think it's that short fat indica fem, with no ceiling to the stone, that those 2 growers on OG were talking about- that EXACT one, of all the diff MF phenos you guys have mentioned- that's the one...and now you mention it specifically budwhisperer...I don't think they were talkin about any real tall hazy lookin fem... I think their pics were definitely of that short fat indica fem too...don't wanna sound crazed over MF, but I can't get it out of my head- thought about SAGE, Nebula also... also seem like really potent sativas for a good price, just like maybe MF... man with your descrip budwhisperer, I think I'm gonna go ahead and give it a shot, see what kind of buzz comes from it...again thanks for all the responses.

The indica-like plant is definately not as speedy and to be honest I want to add that the jack one was done first and was almost all smoked by the time the 2 others were done and dry, so by then I was really craving some heavier smoke which the new stuff didn't really provide. My opinion was a bit biased. I just quit smoking cigs too :woohoo: and without all that stimulant running through my system I'm sure it will be more enjoyable next time.

Since you are planning to try it I recommend letting it go late. The last two actually came down a few days apart to test the perfect harvest time for the new strain and the smoke from the later one was the best. I think it would have been even better as much as a week later. The plants were all harvested a few days after the frost started turning from white to shimmery (amber coming in).

I'd also suggest topping at least once. Topped twice like I mentioned the smallest colas were a bare minimum of 2" thick(up to 3.5"). I can imagine how thick an untopped version would be and how little light, air, and nutrients(from one stem carrying them instead of eight) the inside of that huge single cola would get. It also produces this gorgeous canopy of big buds.

Lastly I think it's best dried completely pre-jarring to avoid the normal level of curing, which doesn't seem to help the flavor at all. Next time a cookie sheet of dessicant will be placed in front of the air intake for the drying
area starting on the 5th day of drying till the plants are crunchy.

Aside from expecting extremely varied children, I think this strain could be part of a truely phenomenal sat/ind cross. I'd love to hear from anyone who has crossed it with a stoney indica plant. Oh, and props to Sensi Seeds (and Shantibaba if I recall correctly) for one- the excellent strain, and two- 100% females :woohoo:
