Hi, all. This strain has been around a while from Serious Seeds. It's a haze-hybrid of several parents, and though the strain is not stable, all the phenos are good, up, racy - but some take longer than others to flower.
I haven't noticed any reports on it here, though there was a huge and informative thread about it on overgrow.com. But that's all lost, as we know, so for those who haven't had the chance to hear about it, I offer this little report.
The phenotype I selected for a mom takes about 12 weeks to flower. It's very photogenic, potent, motivational - but not nearly as edgy as a pure haze or even something like Jack Herer. It's easy to grow, and since I grow a lot of sativa dominant stuff, the flowering time seems quite normal to me. It doesn't need much veg time at all; I veg for 2 weeks after the rooted clone is planted. It jumps up in height immediately on flowering, and then fills in slowly.
In terms of appearance, my Mother's Finest looks like the twin sister of my Kali Mist mom (and my KM is [unfortunately] the post-2000 version that was toned done by crossing with an indica (or whatever - I forget). Anyway, here are several pics of it in early stages of flowering, side by side with Kali Mist. If the pots were not labeled, I would have a rough time telling them apart. The high is different, and the taste is subtley different though. I'm a HUGE fan of both.
Anyway, let me get straight to the details:
TASTE: "hazy" - I know, you need a point of reference, and that typical "haze" taste is elusive and hard to describe: hints of sandalwood, vanilla, black pepper...
but for me, it tastes like bitter white chocolate with a pepper after taste - not sweet chocolate.... anyway... tastes good... not my favorite taste in the range of herbal tastes, but Mother's Finest has a taste that is gentle and soothing... nothing to complain about. It has a light, not a heavy smell during flowering.
THE HIGH: It comes on strong. If you've smoked Kali Mist, then I can tell you that this is very much like that, except, surprisingly, it has a bit more of a body component than even my toned down KM has... In other words, it has a slight muscle relaxation quality that is quite nice. But don't be deceived. This is get up and go smoke. The high is not nearly as racy as I wish it were, but then my tolerance for sativas is higher than most people... It is clear headed, inspires creative thinking, seeing things from a new perspective.
It comes on fast and strong; the high is long lasting - several hours... But, again, I am a chronic smoker, predominantly of sativa-dominant type things, and I smoke alot of it... so keep that in mind. For most people, a little bit of this goes a long way.
Now for some more pics. They pretty much some it up about my feelings about this pot:
Highly recommended!
Potency 8/10; beautiful to grow and fun to watch.
I have a new one just going into flower, even now. Hope this has been informative for those of you who haven't already got the scoop on Mother's Finest.
Now for some more pics. I've included several that were taken with a microscope camera, and the others with a regular digital cam.
Enjoy!
