Even after 15 years of clone only gardening I cannot and do not push any particular agenda.
I do not feel this is a cloning question.
Is the garden set up for a tall and lanky plant or a short and bushy plant?
Forcing a tall plant to be short wastes a lot of energy. Growing a short plant in a spot with light and space for a tall plant wastes a lot of energy.
I live where the power comes over the Alaska Range from 300 miles away on the coast. Not only does it quit often, it is extremely expensive. Energy is my priority. When I lived by the Bonneville Dam it did not matter.
I use a perpetual grow room with two strains and use perpetual mothers for each.
Two weeks to heal after donating two clones and the young mother goes into the bud room. She is only cloned once during peak growth.
The smaller clone is discarded at transplant time.
Full time mothers allow for much better timing on plant sizes.
I balance that against the extra space needed for a plant not on its way to the bud room.
