ok this is my first attempt at keeping a bonsai mum. i repotted a few days ago but she has yet to bounce back and instead has started yellowing. at first i thought it was over watering but then she started getting red petioles and is always droopy. my soil PH is alright and i havent been using nutes much. I have a head cold so I cant clearly think of what the root of the problem is, so i hope someone can lead me in the right direction.

stay irie

Hey irie I believe you are having a phosphorus problem and nutrient lockout. Please refer to the complete guide to sick plants,ph,and pest problems and go down to phosphorus section to get a better understanding of whats wrong with your plant.Good luck bro,and by the way I havent been paintballing in a while but that shits fun.I kind of was high though the last time I went and I found it took a beating on my lungs,i hate those masks thought because sometimes they seem hard to breath in.Peace

thanks B4O2N0G at first i was thinking i had a triple threat NPK problem. i think the newer soil is causing the probs so i just might repot with better soil i have. when i repotted my soil ph was good, but i didnt let it sit for a week to cook (my bad) so its probably lower now causing the phosphorus defficiency.

yeah its not good medicating before playing paintball takes a toll on the lungs. but after paintball is another story. and i know what you mean about the masks, its even worse when you wear glasses and the fog up. but that never stopped me from running the tape and bunkering someone.

thanks

Looks like poor draining soil problem. You need more perlite in that mix, like 40%.

Waterlogging will inhibit nitrogen, thus causing the yellowing and the dead droopy look is surely overwatering. You may not evn think you are overwatering, but if your mix does not drain well then the roots will suffer.

BTW, i trim the roots of my moms and they bounce back fine, there is no issue with this technique. The plants will require less frequent waterings after you trim roots/branches as there is less plant to use it.
