I’m looking for the most pronounced sweet-sour Citrus aroma/flavour, or the strain with the most lemony or lime phenotypes.
A wider terpene profile beyond citrus is expected, but mostly seeking some fresh zesty tang

I’m choosing an ACE Sativa for a clean motivating effect with reasonable indoor adaptability/stretch, and not too far removed from landrace origin with possible breeding potential.
Thinking Ethiopia and it’s hybrids would be lower odor, which is not a bad thing.

Tried some Bangi Haze x Ethiopian previously, which ranged from bold Lime to honeyed carrots. From experience, this seems the best option to explore.

What do those of you with more understanding of the ACE collection think?

Panama x bangi haze has a lot of citrusy freshness with some hashy creaminess, my favorite herb so far. Panama and panama hybrids carry the intense lemony terpenes.

Cheers

Yeah that panama is sick when grown right. Seen a lot of bad panama but the one I grew was straight lemon gas candy but took like 16 or 18 weeks to fully ripen. Most people don't let panama keep growing like its suppose to. Panama from panama like my dad told me when he smoked it during war times in the 70's it was like a 12 foot plant, smelt lemon, gas, candy, sometimes red or green. It was very tall and bulky but very sativa and people around that place told him it took 14+ weeks for a good panama. Happy growing.

Growing both Panama and Pangi side by side. All early in flower with the Pangi a few days ahead. Right now Pangi's smells overwhelm the 2 Panama plants. One Panama has got the Goddess in it's blood but as of now doesn't match the Pangi in smells.

Take this with a grain of salt, my nose is not the best.

So.. basically.. Panama.

Luckily have a pack of Panama waiting. Would prefer to bring the stretch and flowering time down, so interested in the crosses too.

Awesome. In short, how would you compare the effect with Panama? More/less clear or energetic?

+1 for Panama and its crosses. I've grown Panama, Panama x Bangi Haze, Panama Haze, Thai x Panama and Congo x Panama so far.

Panama and/or its crosses I guess.

So are the Panama x Bangi Haze and others much stronger smelling than the 'pure' Panama? Lower odour is preferable where possible.

Thanks for all of your input.

Thanks Jayded for the tip on the Congo 3 x BH

Very little information on this one (or the Congo 3 itself) beyond a couple of threads on IC (including yours, I think).
How was the stretch and odor strength?

Quite interested in this one for the wild ride.

I'm basically seeking a Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster :tiphat::abduct:
A physical and mental energy boost with a fresh citrus scent to match.

Hi Wild Seed,

Our friends here really gave you great recommendations. Panama and more specifically Panama Goddess offspring and fem hybrids will produce the loudest and most refined lemony terpene profiles from our catalog, being the most lemony Thai x Panama, Panama x Bangi Haze, Panama x Malawi, Malawi x Panama, and also to a lesser degree Panama Haze, Panama x PCK and Honduras x Panama.

Other non Panama strains where you can find strong lemony aromas are Malawi x PCK, some Bangi Haze phenos and not so strong in some of our African sativa hybrid like Ethiopian hybrids.
You can also search on our website for lemon scented strains.

Great recommendations indeed. If I’m reading you right, the Ethiopian crosses have a more mild aroma, while still being lemony? Lemon/Citrus terps are usually loud, but would prefer a more subtle smell.

Is anyone able to give an idea of the general odor level on any of these?
Is the standard Panama or Thai x Panama noticeably less pungent than say Panama x BH?

Looks like I'll be going for the Panama family, the Congo 3 x BH and the New Caledonia also!
Thanks for the help in speeding up the search everyone.

To answer your question. Growing 2 Panama std. and 1 Pangi. Right now, a few weeks into flower, there's no contest. Pangi is strong, just like previous grows. Panamas, very little odor, but still early.

Panama x bangii haze has a pungent complex lemony character, thai x panama was more gentle smelling, citrus on top of wood, herbs and spices.
Gotta pop a new Pangi this spring :)

Cheers

Cheers Lotto and Koondense.
The Pangi sounds like a winner, but based on your advice I'll start off with Panama and Taipan first and update in the relevant threads.

I understand you are asking a slightly different question since you are talking about restricting to landrace sativa's. But if you want lemon or rotten citrus smells then Zamaldelica x Kali China is the strongest for aromas that I have grown. From your list I would say Panama x Bangi Haze. The CBD #1 that I grew this fall was extremely citrus in aroma too.

Stretch was around x3 on un-topped plants and x2.5 on the 1 girl I topped.Yeah, the 1 with no pics left was my thread.Citrus component was quite strong but overall smell wasn't overly loud.
I spent more time with those plants than with anything i've grown.I could easily spend an hr every time I went near the tent just looking at them.Definitely the most beautiful looking plants I've grown.
I gave the last of my seeds to a family member and he said exactly the same thing while growing them out.

Agree with Texas about Zam X Kc. Best overall smell that I have trouble describing. One that makes you come back for more. Retains great smell after a long cure. But it doesn't have that blast of lemon that Pangi hits you with.

My best Zam x KC had an amazing floral smell that was not citrus but more like Jasmine and geranium combined with locker room musk. I have grown it 6 times since then and never got another one quite like it.
