The Bemidji Pioneer has learned that Bill Bieloh, founder of the popular Moondance Jam music festival near Walker, has died. His death was confirmed on the festival's website.

Bieloh conceived the Jam in 1992 as a way to promote the riding stables he and his wife Kathy own. The event got off to a modest start that first year by featuring a roster of regional bands.

The following message was posted on the Moondance Jam website this morning:

"Our sadness is beyond words. Bill Bieloh passed away in the early morning hours of Friday September 24th. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, September 28th at the Moondance fairgrounds. Please keep his wife Kathy, son Jonathan and daughter Britony in your thoughts and prayers. Additional details will be posted when available."

very sad day for many people in the Walker MN area. Bill was one of the most respected and beloved members of the community, he was extremely generous with his time and money in regards to civic responsibilities and had a hard time saying "no" to anyone in need of help even when he knew there was little chance for being reimbursed. Bill was 52 yrs old and taken way too soon. Over the many many years that they lived there the Bieloh family has donated continually to the Walker community.

R.I.P. Bill Bieloh
