Monster Bean List - need suggestions please

Hi folks....


I have recently been offered my choice of beans from a very wonderful collection, which I will be using in some breeding experiments.

I wanted to get some opinions and advice from a wide group on what to choose, as I am not a strain expert.....

Keep in mind I will be crossing whatever I get with a very very early finishing private outdoor strain developed by a buddy, with the object being to improve yield, resin content and flavour whilst retaining as much of the early qualities of the private strain as possible.


I know this prob should be in another forum, but as I spend most of my time here in the Den, I will post it here.....

I am being offered 5 to 8 different strains, 6 to 10 seeds of each......and am leaning towards stable single strain seeds as opposed to fresh crosses. There may be more to the collection, but that is the list as I have it now.

it kinda depends on what you want out of the eventual cross. do u want to increase the up high of the resulting strain, do u want a one hitter quitter or a ceilingless wonder? two names that popped out to me were the C99 (your one hitter quitter, or so ive read) and the sensi star which is some if not the best indica has to offer.

The private strain I am working with is nice, and uber-fast, but could use a bit of a boost, if ya know what I mean.
I am actually looking to do a few different crosses....different flavours and stones.
Would like to have at least one sat-dom and one ind-dom...mebbe a few in-betweeners as well.....

The main emphasis (keeping in mind the above sentence) is on yield, mold resistance and resin content, really.
I want to create a small family(3-4) of really shit-hot new outdoor strains....esp fer us Northern folkses...dats my goal.

well ....i'm thinking that you should stat with the acapulco and the jalisco...as they are heirloom landrace and should be quite stable

from there the c99 for potency and stability and then the rest i would take some of the f2's ...just because there will be some interesting selections and more chances of finding something special

C99 is some good stuff but I wasnt impressed to the point where I thought it was a one hitter quitter. Smoked plenty stronger varieties.

good lord that is a nice list! wish i had the same dilemna as you!

3 that jumped of the page to me were: Icequeen x Herijuana, Acapulco Pure, and Blockhead. good luck with the selection process!

I would also choose the Blockhead, and one that you don't have on the list, Chimera's C-4.( also possibly my favorite plant, Serious Ak-47, itself a fast finisher and a good yielder)

probably can't go wrong w/ Cherry bomb X c99

If I was searching for a special pheno tho I'd do some lineage research on some of those F2's and probably choose from them first.

Throw the swt #3 in there....might shorten flowering time and increase resin production. My swt #4 went 45 days and was some of the frostiest stuff i've seen.

Get the Blockhead for sure genkisan. I've heard nothing but good things about this strain...and I just happen to be growing 1 out myself at the moment

The one thing I do not need to do is shorten or speed up the flowering time...this private strain performs like nothing I have ever heard of in that respect. My main goal is to increase it's resin and total weight yield, and have a few flavours/stones.

Lets see, first it's going to be pretty hard to recommend strains based on a small description as I'd have to grow and get to know the girl you want to knock up. Second you didn't really give any info on setup, indoor or outdoor, etc.. about the conditions which these genetics have to preform.
With that said, I picked those based on diversity of ranging effects, growth, yield, and overall quality providing that these are good and stable genetics.
I've had personal experiance with a few of those, and the others were a shot in the dark.
