Moldy seeds

I'm experiencing some mold growth on my uncracked Sensi Hindu Kush and Durga Mata seeds. They're sitting in nice, moist soilless mix. They're older seeds, and hence they're taking quite a while to germ. I've tried watering with a very dilute hydrogen peroxide solution, and I wiped off the mold twice in the last few days. At one point, there was a little saliva-looking gunk coming off the seeds. Are these seeds done for?

I planted two Durga Matas; one germed, the other hasn't as of yet. 3/3 Hindu Kushes are still taking forever. Prior to this batch, it took me 5 Hindu Kush seeds to get one plant, and it took about 10 days to crack! I killed one by squeezing it to see if anything was going on inside. The other ones either never did anything at all or turned to digusting, stinky mush inside...

I figured I'd use more H2O2 and microwave the soil before my next batch of seeds. Anyone else have any suggestions on how to keep the mold at bay? Will my existing seeds still germ, even with the mold on the outside (I wiped it off)?

Before planting in the soil, soak seeds 12 hours in 3% hydrogen peroxide at 1 3/4 teaspoon per quart of distilled water. If this is not strong enough, you can soak the seeds for 1 minute in 1 part bleach and 3 parts water then place into the 12 hour hydrogen peroxide soak. You can sterilize soil in the preheated oven at 200 degrees (no hotter) for 30 minutes.

Thanks for stopping by Sprout! I've been watering with H2O2. Just soaked another Hindu Kush seed in a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide before sprinkling a little more onto my still germing seeds. One of the Hindu Kushes had gone to mush inside, so I trashed the seed and put another one in to replace it.

BTW, has anyone used the often suggested few drops of bleach in a gallon for germing? I see you edited and added the bleach suggestion, but I dunno, 1/4 bleach sounds a little too strong, even if it's just for a minute...

If your going to be watering with hydrogen peroxide, try 2 teaspoons per gallon of water 3% hydrogen peroxide.

Sometimes I water my soil with a preventitive fungicide like captan and/or terrachlor.

Will do sprout! I'll use that on my actual rooted plants, anyway... I just wet the seeds down with 1/2 6% H202, 1/2 water. I tried to use a weaker concentration but the mold just kept coming, so I decided to up the concentration.

Anyone use ISO for seedlings? I found out about a product called NO DAMP yesterday that's a fungicide and isopropyl alcohol solution...

Captan is cheap. Try 16 ounces 50% captan per 100 gallons of water. This works out to be 2 teaspoons per gallon of water.

I'd love to get some, but I don't know if I can get it locally. I'm not in the US anymore...I miss being able to order grow supplies whenever I want...

Another thing I might try is colloidal silver....I have a bottle right here too...

ok, so I'm soaking my last 2 Hindu Kush seeds in a glass of RO water with a drop of bleach. I also microwaved a cup of soil for 3 minutes till it was steaming hot. I'll plant the seeds in 12 hours, then water sparingly with dilute colloidal silver. My goal will be to get the soil less wet than before. I'll place it next to my router. Let's see if I get any mold/sprouts this way.

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to get that locally, but I think they'll pop thanks to the bleach and nuked soil...time will tell. :)
