Mold prevention

Hello all,

Well, it is raining and the RH is at 75%. my temps are 77*F at the moment and I have a fan blowing across the tops.

I have the AC on and set low but that has been on since the end of May.

Other then a de-humidifier, there is nothing to do but keep the temps down and the wind blowing right?

Definately get a de-humidefier! Do you have block or brick walls in your room?

Hello Sin,

I have a 265cfm drawing air from an outbuilding and exhausting intothe same room. I have the AC on now, however, it is colder outside then in. I am thinking on opening the door but the humidity inside is about 5% lower then out. The accuracy of the humidistat is in question.

But, the AC should reduce the humidity some.

I have never had mold so short of buying a de-humidifier I think cool temps and air circulation will help.

Kind of a catch 22 you've got going on...

If you run the AC, it will drop the RH...but it drops the temps which and the lower the temps the less moisture the air can hold. If you were to raise the temps, the RH% would drop simply because the water holding ability in the air is greater.

I know this is going to be inefficient, but if you ran a heater in there (along with the AC on high) the air would get dryer...mainly because the AC is running harder and removing RH% while working to drop the temps...but it's gonna cost you more electricity.

Try not to vent if you can...especially if you're running CO2 since you'll just be bringing in more of the 75% RH air.

You could try this.
Shut down the intake and only exhaust.
Or shut them both down and just let the AC move the air.
Keep your floor fans on.

See if any of those help.
Good Luck

"im no expert, but it seems to me that your getting too much humid air for the AC to keep up with.
Are you soil or Hydro?
Is it worse lights on or off?

Got a Sulfur Burner? :)
