Molasses Use in Grow..

I've been reading quite a few articles about various 'sugars' being added during veg. and flowering. One stated,The sugars are mainly acting as a catalyst or food for microbes..But the one that really jumped off the page said..adding Molasses @ 1tbl's/quart of water during bloom, add's 20% size to the buds...which I think sounds a little far fetched. I did not really go into any frequency of application's...I've also read that simple sugars 'lock-out' Nitrogen. I would like to hear REAL info. from people that have used sugars, molasses, carboload, ect.during their actual grows...Thanks.

I dont know too much about the science part of it all I know is it has
1%Sodium 10%Potassium and 5% Carbohydrates so it does help with the flowering process but not by itself. it will definitly help if plant already has great conditions it depends on many factors it not going to make any miracles from one day to the other but I think it works good. I only add about
1 tsp in a gallon with my nutes or whatever and it is after about 3-5 weeks after the 12/12 switch. I only add it during flowering in every watering until I decide to flush. You gotta try different things and see what works for you.
Good Luck

Hello all,

I believe the sugars are used by the microkiddies in the soil which in turn feed the plant. The microkiddies breeak down the ferts into a more usable form.

The old adage "Feed the soil, not the plant"

I use a super-soil in my soil grows. I feed the beneficials with some unsulphered molasses in water, rotating and turning it weekly.... I add this mix at a rate of 1:4 to a promix based medium. After about a week or so into 12/12, I give it them light tea with 1-2 tbps molasses, some messenger or silica based product, and then a phat foliar with kelp and other goodies.... I hope this made sense, I am stoned.

Go figure.

I use molassas with great sucess, by feeding 1 tsp per gallon of water with organic ferts.

The 3LB have a great article on the use of molassas, and its true what they say, all that the fancy name brand bloom catalyst have is blackstrap mollasas as a very huge ingredient, which can be purchased from the local grocery store.
It does swell the buds up nicely, although I couldnt confirm the 20% figure without an experiment. It does also help the microbe stimulation as stated in earlier posts
I suggest people should try the molassas out and see what they think, I love it and and is very economical
Keep it green :smoker:
