molasses alternative?

hi, im running extremely low on my molasses to put in my tea. is there any substitute i can use for the time being? (next couple brew's) until i am able to make my way down to the feed store and get somemore unsulphured?

i heard you can put sugar in as food but ive never seen this done before.

i remember reading something on here about someone using instant potatoe flakes for food(carbohydrates) for their micro organisms. is this a safe alternative? does it work???

Hi there, I use natural unrefined cane sugar (the dark brown one) in my teas, as I can't find molasses over here. It does the trick, it may not be as good as molasses (can't really compare) but I use it as my main sugar source with success.

I've also used fruit before, you just need to be sure it's natural/free of pesticides/herbicides, mature enough (higher fructose content) and mashed up to speed availability.

Good luck :joint:

From what I understand you can use virtually any sugars.

Brown sugar is sugar that has been mixed with a little molasses, so I'd assume it would be safe and probably slightly more ideal than pure white sugar, but I could be wrong. If you wanted to you could probably also use something along the lines of corn syrup, but not really sure on that one.

In a pinch you look for the source of sugar that is the rawest most unbleached and unrefined source so sugarcane, maple syrup, and yes corn syrup.

But then again wherever you find these they will surely have molases...

Things sure do change around here..

LOL

Look for my thread on Honey...

Remember that sugars are a stimulant and not a fix for a bad organic grow,

Think Nitro in an organic soil that is already healthy and active.

Maple syrup would be my first choice as it is boiled down to make the maple water thick, make sure it's REAL syrup 100%.

JTG with the honey bees dying off in every part of the world I would stockpile your honey to eat rather than grow but yes it is a great source of growth sugar, around my parts honey prices are going from bad to worse and local fruit farmers are losing alot of crops due to lack of polination.

Man sometimes don't you hate that we've waited so long to change our ways...

i have experamented last year with PURE MAPLE SYRUP & a little bit of brown sugar
i wasnt really impressed with making my bud taste sweeter etc...& i also tryed with my last grow using PURE ORANGE BLOSSOM HONEY & now thats what im going to use everytime i beleive it made my buds smell & taste sweet ,alot sweeter than the maple syrup & i think it has a bit more nutreints in it as well.

corn syrup & fructose corn syrup yes natural sugars derived from corn etc.....
BUT, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP is chemically altered corn syrup.
the BASE chemical for making chlorine acid! yup thats right ACID as in pool acid
i wouldnt recomend using it. dont beleive me? RESEARCH IT

A LITTLE BIT OF KNOWLEDGE:
why do they use this in soda, cookies, crackers & every other food? cuz it cost 1/10 less to produce per pound than to by the same amount per pound of real cane sugar plus chemically altered corn syrup is alot sweeter than cane sugar & the chemical makes it addictive simular to nicotine. notice its the 2nd ingredient on every can of soda, 1st ingredient is water.

actually the reason the cola companies switched to corn syrup is because of trade restrictions that made sugar more expensive than corn syrup. every time you buy a product which contains sugar in the united states you are getting ripped of. sugar farmers are some of the few farmers in America which banks don't worry about loaning money to because they never default.
