I was always meaning to try a Mojito, recently I ordered one......I just can't get past the clash of the citrus with the mint, I kept thinking "This would taste great if it wasn't minty". Don't get me wrong, I like drinking Peppermint schnaps around the holidays, and I love Lime margaritas, but i definately don't seem to get the appeal of the Mojito.

i dont know why, because in theory mint and lime would taste aweful together, but for some reason i find it absolutly delicious. it is one of a slim few mixed drinks that i can actually stomach.

BACKCOUNTRY, I'm an old scotch drinker, however, my favorite daytime drink during the hot summer months is a Chopin Cuban Martini.

3oz. Chopin Vodka
3/4oz. Fresh Lime Juice
3 Fresh Sprigs of Mint
1 tsp. Sugar
5 Lagre Ice Cubes

Shake it all togather and strain into a martini glass. Top it off with a splash of Moet & Chandon White Star Champagne, garnish with mint sprigs, light-up a fat one and enjoy.

Give it a try, the mint isn't overbearing and I'm confident you will enjoy it.

Citrus? Lime? The reicpe I got was crush mint and rock candy in the bottom of a glass fill to top with ice and add white rum. Must be a variation on the original.

My favorite daytime drink is a Stinger! Half peppermint schnopps 100proff mixed with half Christian Bros Brandy, filled to the rim with ice. Usually mixed jigger to jigger in a wiskey sour glass! Yea it sounds nasty but it tastes awful good on a hot day!

3 fresh mint sprigs
2 tsp sugar
3 tbsp fresh lime juice
1 1/2 oz light rum
club soda

In a tall thin glass, crush part of the mint with a fork to coat the inside. Add the sugar and lime juice and stir thoroughly. Top with ice. Add rum and mix. Top off with *chilled* club soda (or seltzer). Add a lime slice and the remaining mint, and serve.

Didn't realize it had citrus, I'll have to make myself one to see how it is.

My hot day drink is an ice cold Soco and Coke. :rasta:

Well, it is obvious that its a popular drink with lots of people, it seems to be all the rage right now, but for some reason Citrus and mint don't mix well on my tongue. But then again, I just don't get Tomato Beer either.........perhaps the Mojito I tried had the mint over done.

I like mojitos, but I've had some pretty bad ones before. They have to be made correctly or they aren't very good. I feel there is less room for error then in some other drinks.

I have a soft spot for the mojito.

Only time I've ever had them was in Havana at the Hotel Nacional, watching the surf crash into the Malecon, after seeing Buena Vista Social Club.

Defiantly one of my nights to remember.

yeah ive had some really good mojitos and some really bad ones.. who ever made it for you may have over done the mint.. you suppossed to use 12 (i think) mint leaves and gently muddle them.. just enough to break them a bit.. not mash, along with lime in the bottom of the glass.. then add your ice, 2 measures of white rum. a measure of sugar water and then top with sodawater/seltzer. garnish with lime. the mint should be slight. not over powering.

i just made myself thirsty...

try and experiment with it.. and adjust it to your taste.. you would probably love it with less mint.. its really refreshing in the summer and goes down smooth!

For a mojito to be good it requires four things that most bars won't do. Fresh lime juice, properly muddled mint, actual simple syrup made with complete sugar, and a high quality rum. Do all those and you get the best it can be.

Ronbo hit the nail on the head.however this applies to all mixed drinks.i prefer to mix my own drinks unless the bartender really knows what they are doing.otherwise im just a rum and coke guy.three ice cubes,a triple of rum and a splash of coke

Right wait wait wait

Should be brown sugar, 7-10 mint leafs, dash of angostura bitters, two whole limes (in 8ths) and crushed Ice, decent rum, and a cut from a lime skin about the size of the hole ya index finger and thumb make when you put u an OK sign

OK first off top with ginger beer and lemonade I stead of the seltzer and add another teaspoon of brown sugar after muddling together

Ideally everything is supposed to complement each other but in my opinion they either beautiful or just nasty when someone refuses to read up a bit before making one.

Then just as a finish use the piece of lime skin curl it backwards so the green side is facing toward the glass in a reverse c shape and then squeeze it into a lighter flame to squirt some lime essence oil over the top of the drink
