Doesn't any law for mandatory minimum sentencing go against the constitutional principal that a punishment should fit the crime?

That principle only applies if you are the one making the laws, and how they will be applied to you, or someone you give a rats ass about.
Polits, leos, rich people, etc.
For the rest of us poor bastards - we should be grateful they don't just take us out back and shoot us.
Gotta look at the big picture - the picture window looking out of the courthouse, seat of government, or mansion.
If they cut us a break - who is gonna fill the prisons they are building to hold us?

theres lots of new prisons being built in Canada and its been admitted by analysts that there aren't enough prisoners to fill them. and now they are introducing mandatory minimum sentencing. HOW FUCKING CONVENIENT
