Are you from England? It became tradition that Americans drink coffee because this was another way to seperate ourselves from our oppressors. I do drink iced tea.

Yeah I'm kinda a tea head. I like green tea the most. Mainly I just buy loose leaf and brew it up. Its hot this summer, so I like iced green tea a lot now.

But after months of drinking green teas and other teas in general, I'm finding myself gravitating to coffee...just for a change of pace.

Although I think green tea may be healthier, to me its also about enjoying a beverage that is stimulating... and coffee is nice for that too.

i like yerba mate (pronounced ma-tay) it's like the south american coffee, good shit, gives you a kick and tastes great, albeit a little bitter but I like it.

my guidance counselor at boarding school used to drink that stuff. he had some kinda of wierd tea steeping device that looked like a pot pipe. we used to joke with him about it all the time. his nickname was "bud" too so that made it even worse for him.
i just started drinking iced tea. read an article that the anti-oxidants in it were good for the liver and with all the abuse mine has received, i figured it couldn't hurt. that splenda stuff is pretty good. nice and sweet and it dissolves in the tea really well too.

Morning Thunder Tea from Celestial Seasonings has both the black tea and the yerba matte. The buffalo motif on the box is appropriate, nice buzz.

I love my coffee, but I love my teas, too.

If I'm buying commercially packaged stuff, I like Twinning's Earl Grey, and Stash's Chai.

But lately I've begun making my own teas. Hit the multi-religious "supply" stores, and you're bound to find a plethora of herbs and spices you can't get anywhere else.
Right now, I'm suck on Hawthorne Leaf tea and Spearmint Leaf tea, both of which taste damn good on their own and combined.
I've got a little list of other herbs to get next time I go, too, like Dandelion (I keep hearing that it's a great tasting tea) And I can't for the life of me find dried Passiflora (Passion Flower) I used to dry the flowers off a vine we had growing on our house years and years ago. Made a nice, light, slightly fruity tea. Waited too long this year, and have to wait until next year to get any Yellow Root. Stuff's not too widely available, tends to be in stock for just a day or 2, and isn't available year round. Very limited seasonal root.

The upside to Hawthorne by the way, it lowered my BP from 140/125 to 129/116 in 3 days. (Don't know what my BP is now, haven't taken it for a few weeks, lol) Drank a cup every 12 hours. I never use any more than 2 teaspoons per cup, take boiling water and toss both in a cup and let steep for about 10 minutes. Strain and enjoy. Very light tea, no bitter taste, smells pretty good, too.
Same formula for Spearmint, too. And no, it's not minty. Well, it is, but slightly. It's not like spearmint gum or anything, it's very mild.

White tea just indicates that the buds were picked while they still had white hairs on them indicating that they were still young. There are many types of "white" teas.
