********* PLANT BACKGROUND *********

What STRAIN are you growing? 13 Bubblegum & 3 White Widow
What was the establishing technique? (Were the seed or clone?) clone
What is the age of your plants? Plants were cloned 2/21
What PHASE are the plants in? (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in? About day 33 of Flowering
What Technique are you using? Using an Aeroflo20 (combination of aeroponics and NFT)
What substrate/medium are you using?(Hydroton, RockWool etc.) Rockwool and hydroton
What is the Nutrient temperature? Room Temp (About 70 – 75 deg F)
What Nutrient's are you using? General Hydroponics: FloraGro, FloraMicro and FloraBloom (2.5 – 7 – 18) along with CalMag (0.5 tsp/gal), Floralicious (1tsp/gal), KoolBloom (1tsp/gal), and Hygrozyme (8ml/gal)
What is the TDS/EC/PPM you are using? When we changed the rez, we put the ppms a bit low (850) but then raised it a day later to 1150 ppm
What is the pH of the "Tank"? After the rez change, the pH was monitored and took about 12 hours to get the rez to 5.5, then was allowed to climb a bit and settled at 5.9.
Are you sure your calibration is correct on your equipment? Yes, both the pH meter and PPM meters were checked with calibration solutions.
When was your last watering? Water is topped off daily. The plants take in about ½ to 1 gallons of water a day.
When was your last feeding change? (ie. grow-bloom-micro-additional) Today, April 16th. I just emptied the rez and am running plain water with nothing in it right now (1/2 tap & 1/2 R/O Water)
What size bulb are you using? 1000W HPS
What is the distance to the canopy? About 2 Ft
What is your RH Factor? Sitting pretty close to 40% constantly
What is the canopy temperature? 69 deg F
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include flucutaion range) Plant Day: 69 F Plant Night: 62 F
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.) I’m not sure, but we just added several fans and there is a substantial, constant breeze ruffling the leaves of all the plants
Is your water HARD or SOFT? Hard (about 83ppm Ca) We are using ½ Tap water and ½ R/O Water
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned off of or pinched Plants have been recently pruned, mostly just dead or wilting leaves
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so, What and When? Used GreenCure Fungicide to combat a bit of powdery mildew Saturday night and Sunday night. JUST USED IT AGAIN LAST NIGHT!!! We have been fighting powdery mildew, and had used the weaker recommended amount of GreenCure Sat & Sun night. Last night, after seeing that the mildew was persisting, we upped the amount used to more on the 'aggressive' side (twice what previously was used).
Are plant's infected with pest's Not currently, but we did do battle with thrips about 2 weeks ago (used ProZap insect strip)

**********************************

First, thanks a lot to everyone who has helped me with my problems recently!! This is technically my second attempt at growing, but this is definitely the furthest I've been and this is uncharted territory for me. Ok, so, last night I went in to take a look at the plants. Everything was OK except for the fact that powdery mildew was covering several leaves. We have been battling this problem for weeks, keeping it mostly in check by attending to each individual leaf with diluted H2O2 and wiping it off. After a recent trip to the hydro store, we picked up some GreenCure fungicide and did a bit of research and decided to use it. Saturday and Sunday we sprayed the plants and it seemed OK. Then last night, it was back and we used a more aggressive dose. This morning, before we turned the lights out, we discovered all kinds of spotting on a ton of leaves. Below are pics

Before (yesterday at 1:30pm):

Today (7:00am):

The pics above are pretty much the same area of the canopy, only about 15 or 16 hours apart. Crazy, huh?? lol

Here are some other pics:

Here's a close up of a cola: notice the orange/red/brown hairs?

Here's some pics of the canopy, illustrating how pervasive the problem is:

If anyone has any input as to what my problem is (pretty sure it is related to the spraying i did with the GreenCure fungicide) it would be appreciated!!!!! I'm goin nuts over here!! This change happened so fast, its crazy!!!

Thanks,

Matt

you didnt spray them (foliar ) a few days ago did you?

some of thoes look like water drop burns.
otherwise id think its a PH flux or minor nute def.

dont mix RO+TAP tap =shit...(98% of the time)

Either something that was sprayed on is burning the leaves ... did you have lights on when you applied it??? sometimes water and chemicals act like magnifying glasses on the leaves and they burn..... or it is PH related. Im not a hydro person so i cant really help.... but make sure the lights are always off before foliar spraying or feeding etc....

thats the problem.

there minor lothes anyways...

next time use a surfectant if you can, itll make the water sheet across the leafs, not leaving bubbles like that to burn.
also do that just 1-2 min before the lights go off.

if you dont have a plant surfectant you can add a grease cuting dish soap like dawn. and/or simply shake the plants in the morning to make the remaining drops fall off the leafs.

I was thinking a PH imbalance but if you sprayed them with something, i would spray them again with plain water and try to get some back off, also found that with Neem oil and other pesticides/fungicides to cut the manufacturers directions in half and test on one plant first wait a few days and if all is well then hit the rest :) just food for thought
Just went back and read your post, you used it on them twice within a short period of time, think maybe you should have gave it at least a week before retreatment.
Also never spray with lights on, it is best to spray about 15 minutes before they come on, if you do it right before they go out for the night you could cause other problems as they stay damp most the night versus if you do it before the lights come on :)

Yes, unfortunately we did foliar spray them Sat & Sun night and then again last night (Tuesday night)

The idea to run 1/2 tap & 1/2 RO water came from General Hydroponics (called the help line). We felt like we had to much Ca+ in our system running 100% tap water, but when we used 100% RO water we felt like we were getting deficiencies. We thought this would be a good way to keep some ions while cutting the amount of Ca+ (we have 83 ppm Ca+ in our tap water). How come mixing the two a bad idea?

Regarding the water burns, does it look like our plants will survive or do you think its a waste of time to keep growing these plants? We're planning on giving them a week or so to recover, but if they don't- off with their heads!! lol

Eh, yes we did have the lights on when we sprayed. :bashhead: :wallbash:

We did spray on Sunday, too, though and did not experience anything like this...

BD,

thanks for the reply! I think this is really good advice and I will definitely follow this next time I encounter a problem and contemplate foliar feeding!!

I am going to try spraying the leaves with water (BEFORE TURNING THE LIGHTS ON!!! LOL) and hopefully that will get any remaining residue off the leaves.

I feel like such a F#$%ing idiot!!!! :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

It's alright man..... it happens to the best of us. Just learn from your mistakes and prosper! Never spray anything after two weeks of flower either.... it will cause bud rot/mold Good luck!

haha, know the situation "holy shit, i messed up so horribly! I shall live no longer!" ;)
next time sth. happens you'll be more relaxed. its not that bad, anyways.

Nav / Fid,

Thanks a lot for the encouragement and kind words!! I was definitely freaking out over here!! I'm still worried about my ladies, but I figure all I can do at this point is wait and see and just keep going. They've got about another month of flowering or so and I'm hoping they pull through. If not, I just have to start over, which would suck; however, I feel more competent with what I'm doing and know I won't make the same dumb@$$ mistake :bashhead: !! LoL

I just need to :joint: and relax! haha

I'm not a hydro guy.......but I mix r/o and tapwater all the time.

This isn't isn't what is causing your problem but it can't be helping either. 69F lights on 62F lights off .... bring em both up about 10 degrees.

Yea foliars are the cause of that, the burns are droplet shapes.

I find it odd that at 40% RH you have mildew, I would sooner use a compost tea as a foliar before chems. :2cents:

JK is right temps are 10deg off IMO.

Also I mix RO and Tap all the time with no problems but honestly you should go all RO with the nutes you are using and if they yellow at the new growth shoots up the calmag dose.

Don't worry bro... I beat down my ladies, twist them up tie em' down and they always come back! (PLANTS THAT IS.....) my old lady beats me :)

Cant really say what the problem/problems are but in future grows I think you should be aware that you shouldn't spray your plants with anything once flowering starts, doing so will present you with any number of additional problems. In my opinion if possible you should consider starting over after thouroughly cleaning and disinfecting your entire grow area, including pots, resevoirs, etc.
