I bought a few bricks to lighten my soil. How do i go abouts adding these to my medium? soak them in water and break it up, then toss in with my soil?

Thanks

when i mixed coco and soil i expanded the bricks, cleaned the expanded coco and the dried it. it was easier to mix it dry.

When I mixed COCO with my PROMIX I had a nitemare of a time... I thought throwing in about 40% coco would help with more air to the rootzone and less compaction...

Needless to say the clones never made it that far, they were alll dead by 3 weeks.... I have since read that when mixing CoCo with Peat based mixes that the coco leaches all the nutrient from the soil... Therefore you cannot treat your medium like a standard soil or soilless grow...

If your wanting to get into CoCo I would recommend jumping feet 1st with a 50/50 mix of coco perlite... It couldn't be easier and the results are blowin my mind... There is a ton of good information in the COCO section here...

Just tryin to save ya the headache that I went thru... Good Luck on which ever path you choose tho mate....

I think the trouble P&PFarmer is having with brick coir is due to the heavy salt left in the coconut husks. Put one or two coir bricks into a five gallon bucket full of hot water. After the bricks melt, mix everything around with your hand and pour off the excess water. You can do this a couple of times to get rid of most of the salt. Strain the coir and use as directed in one of LC's mixes.
