I was looking at our plants today, which are still in veg . And i have noticed a few mites .Now what i am after is info on avid, and any info on no pest strips . Being in the uk we cant get hold of avid ,and no pest strips. But a kind ex oger has kindly given me both .

The only thing is ,i have lost the info on the avid ,on how to use it, as i am not sure on what amounts to use .

The other thing i was wondering pest stirps, do you have to use the hole thing. Or could you say cut it in half, and use only half of it if the room is not to big ?.So if anyone has got any info on how to apply avid it would be welcome .As i cant get intouchwith my m8 who gave me the stuff atthe mo.

15 drops per gallon on the Avid will take care of em. After about 20 drops, it can burn leaves, but it's mostly cosmetic damage. To apply it, just mix in water and THOROUGHLY spray the entire plant (including top of the medium, pots) - especially the undersides of the leaves.

You should be fine cutting the NPS in half, but I'd make sure to wear gloves when doing it (as well as when using the Avid). Store the unused half in a ziplock (or other airtight container) somewhere so that it won't be exposed to light.

Damn mites......Ditto on what MTF said.......if you are opposed the pesty chemicals you could also use organicide.......Even further from sprays or chemicals you could unleash a bag of lady bugs on those freakin suckers, the lady bugs will eat the mites and then die when there is no more food ( mites).....This routine can require alot of cleanup afterwards though and it would have to be in a sealed environment so the bugs wont go elsewhere looking for food, or end up in your dinner.......Good Luck,

Also to note for future reference do you know how you got mites in the first place????? If so dont repeat it obviously.

I apply this rule and so far I have been mite free:
1. Change clothes before entering rooom
2. No animals mans best friend is also a dirty bug infested beast especially if it roams outside.
3. Make sure the environment is clean, once a week I wipe everything down with a littlle bleach diluted in water, not the plants obviously but the room, walls, floor, and equiptment not in contact with the medium ( rez, pumps ebb tray...etc....)
4. This one I think is the biggest culprit of mites next to animals entering the grow area, and that is houseplants, keep them far away from the grow area....Love Orchids and begonia's awesome make another room for them and dont even allow a little ivy plant in the same vecinity as your grow area....

Follow these and you will be cool from now on......Late

i use floramite it kills all mites and EGGS .avid doesnt do eggs ..one spray and never seen um again..also lable says can spray tomatoe plants up to 3 day before harvest. the down side is avid cost about 100 for a pint and floramite is 250 for a quart..comes in quart only. but its the bomb it works.

Avid may be not listed as an ovicide, but I've never seen any eggs hatch after getting sprayed with Avid. If they do, they die almost instantly. Either way, they're both great for getting rid of the bastards as long as you're not more than a week or two into flowering.

I live in Canada and its easy to find Vapona No Pest Strips in most hardware stores and grow shops.I just started using them two months ago and i,m happy to say that the little bastards are gone.I suffered for two years with spidermites and nothing i tried worked until i found the Vapona strips.
