MITES!!!

Confirmed my worst fears, the mites are back! Put up No Pest Strips and sparyed with neemoil. 3 1/2 weeks into flower and it looks like after sparying with neem the bud hairs are discolored and possibly damaged (were white before, now curled and brownish)

Decided to dip some Qtips in neemoil mix and try to brush down the undersides of the leaves and came up with a shit load of mites stuck to them... a lot more than I could see or thought I had.

Is there anything safer than neemoil for plants this far into flower? Also when mites are alive and well can you see them move at all? I cant tell if they are dead from the no pest or just chilling there eating my damn buds. :wallbash:

Cant see much from the picks but heres a few of the Qtips after brushing down the leaves. Any possibility of identifying what type of mites these are? They seem reallly small, even smaller than the mites I have seen before, but there are shitload of them.

well the pest strip works, but you have to use it very carefully to acheive max results...

first, you have to put it in the grow room when lights are out preferably, bc mites move around and are active when the lights are out...

second the room must have no fans or intake/exhaust while the strip is in there, because you have to literally fumagate the room to choke the fuckers out....

hope that helps a little bit. good luck!

Im only using 1 strip in room that’s about a 5 by 5. Didnt even want to use 1 since im in flower... but I suppose its better than letting the bastards wipe me out.

I leave it in there during the day with exhaust going which probably doesnt do much, but at night there is no exhaust so it gets a chance to build up.

What type of treatment do you give them before vegging? Ive read you can dip clones to kill all mites and eggs.

Ive heard alot of good things about Avid and Floramite, but when I looked it up it was hundreds of dollars, and the local grow shop doesnt even carry it... wtf lol. Does some company have a monopoly on the stuff or what?

Also ive read 50% alcohol and 50% water works well. Would this be safe for flowering plants?

I made a Garlic/onion/chilly concoction for time being...
.Not spraying it on the leaves , just a open container,.
hopefully the fumes drive them away

I agree with this fully, avid/Vertimec or anything with Abamectin is the way to go.
Its a serious chemical so you dont want to spray it near harvest, but it gets the job done.

everything else is pretty ineffective unless you catch it super early.

look around for anything with Abamectin

I had a big several hundred dollar thing of avid ripped off from one of my old places. now I just buy vertimec which is the same shit basically, and you can buy it in 5ml jars for around 10 bucks

fully baked

I used this application twice in a week and let it sit for about a half hour at a time when lights were off.. Significantly dropped the mite count when I had them. Followed up by a single light dose of floramite, and I've yet to see the little fucks return.

Try this if you are looking for something safe in flower... I used it around 1-2 weeks into budding. Make sure you rinse afterwards too!!!

Ok so here's what I've done based on some info I read and some help from some guys over in the infirmary.

I sprayed down the plant with
1/4 cup Baking Soda
1/2 cup Apple Cider vinegar
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
2 drops dish detergent
1/4 cup Epsom Salts
Cheers,
