Miracle Grow Starter Mix

I know MG has gotten a bad rap all over these forums, but with it getting late in season and some new Hashberry from mandala arriving in the mail, this was all I could get. Basically it is peat and perlite with some low level root enhancing nutes:

I just want to germ the old fashioned way, and wondered if anyone has used this. TIA

i'm actually using that right now in my current grow. i used one bag of the grow starter mix and two bags of perlite and threw in some dolomite lime. you should be fine.

All I ever use is MG seed starter mix. When something works for me, I stay with it. I have also used other MG products with no problems. Just use it as directed.......Plant your seeds 3/4 of an inch deep and just use a spray bottle and keep the soil damp, not soaked.......

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking of mixing with a little lime and topsoil but it should be fine as is. I will report results as they come.

i think you should add lime when you transplant to larger pots, the pH in peatmoss tend to be acidic

i have used this for years. first mix it with more perlite. you want there to be lots of air in the soil and you do not want it to get thick or muddy. plant your seeds in it and let them grow in this for 2-3 weeks. around week 2 or 3 it might start showing deficientcies and then you need to either transplant it to a hotter soil or feed it some veg nutes. take care.

It should state on the bag whether it has dolomite lime. If it does not you will need to add some. Try 2 teaspoons per gallon of soil mix. Mix really well. Be sure the dolomite lime is pulverized or powdered not pelletized.
