Miracle-Gro bailout thread!!!

OK, I feel that I have made such a classic n00b mistake and potted in Miracle-Gro Organic soil. Sounds like just about everyone does this the first time, and it seems it would be good to maybe dedicate a thread to dealing with this mistake.

My question is - is it best to transplant, or to just veg until I'm certain the nutes are gone (three months?!). They're in 3 liter pots, and they are nice and green right now. I water them every 3 days, and really try to watch the overwatering so as not to release too many nutes.

Any help would be appreciated! I heard Lougrew has some MG grows under his belt...

As long as you wait a couple weeks, MG soil is not going to kill your plants. Whats going to kill them is if you use MG soil and then pound ferts to it. I think MG has become an excuse for people failing, not the cause......

let me be the first to contradict this...

let me be the first to contradict this...

yea yea yea, everyone says dont touch MG blah blah blah....at my local gardening supply - the depot - i was very limited with what i could do. I was "stuck' with oragnic MG soil and their perlite that has time release nutes in it. my mix is 5 parts soil 2 parts perlite. I have been using GH Nutes the entire time except when they were seedlings cut at 50-60% strength. I water them so 20-30% of the water runs off into a collector bucket. not ONCE have i have nute burn or any other problems, my plants are very green and very resinated. the only time i had problems arise was the one time i tried to flush my plants with straight water. to each their own but no problems on my end, so ima stick with the organic MG until i go hydro.

mg... good so far

mg... good so far

I'm using MG organic soil right now , & my menage a` trois & g13-diesel are loving it. I don't think the organic soil have the time release in it... i'm in my 4th wk. flower.

i just updated my gallery to show you guys what i am currently growing with miracle gro organic. these are white widow plants and i'm using nothing but r/o water with a cap full of hydrogen peroxide in 1 gallon of water. but these are under a 400 watt hps and are on their 3rd week of flowering. this is my FIRST grow and i consider these plants to be very healthy.

:rasta: LOL! I love it. This was GROWN in THE SAME SHIT you are using. Just add pearlite...

Don't always (or never) listen to everthing you hear... :spank:

You shit will be fine. Even if you haven't added pearlite, just do it when you transplant.

I have some MG soil with black gold seed starter soil and i even water with MG ferts sometimes. I never have issues but i use a weak dose. This was only for budget reasons and have since started using all organics.

All my girls are in MG moisture control soil.

You do have to take it easy the first few weeks on the feeding but after that you can feed as hard as your plants can take. I use full strength when i feed and have no issues at all. I am tired of people hating on MG just because they were too noob to use it.

Im using a mix with some organic MG soil in it, my only gripe is the bugs that come along with it.... Anyone else notice this as well.
I could definately see no perlite being added causing problems though, that shit clumps together like crazy.

I have never planted a seedling directly into straight MG organic though so I guess I don't really know what I'm talking about.

I use MG products and if anything kills a plant it's me not the soils I used.

Thanks a lot, everyone! The plants still look great, but I took so much BS from the hydro store and another forum, I figured I had made a fatal error. They definitely seem easy to overwater without some perlite in there, though. Soooooo many clumps.

You guys made my day!

i love the stuff, i use it for my last grow to flower. had no problems bud tasted great, and go complemnts off of it. i use Gh 3 part with liquid kool bloom and flouralishous plus and in the last month or so i add sum molasses shit my friend gave me. i water them like 3 times a week, once with nutes, then 2 times with out. i never used perlite tho. i should try that.

I used the MG in my bagseed grow this summer. No issues. I used a Seaweed derived Plant food in flowering with no adverse effects. I probably could have used more Nutes. Sometimes you just have to work with what's given to you or on hand. Not everyone has money to drop on designer soil or digital multispectrum flowering specific whoosy-what's-it's.

Its a weed. don't worry. ;)
