Minor light cycle screw up, Input needed.

I've got 3 girls at almost 8 weeks flowering under a 1000w HPS. My light comes on at 6pm and goes off at 6am. Tonight the light had been on about 2 hours when we had a thunder storm. The power flashed a few times in a short period. I didn't want my big light popping on and off while hot so I unplugged the light. The storm passed rather quickly but I forgot to plug the light back up.

It has been off for 4 hours after 2 hours on. I have decided to leave it unplugged and just give it an extended dark period and start the light back at it's usual time of 6pm tomorrow.

Is this the right way to handle this? I was affraid they would already be asleep and I would wake them early if I turned it back on now.

All input appreciated,

yeah, keep the schedual, "like clockwork"
dont give them light after 6am. (as per post#1's lights-out time)
in nature, you get cloudy days, days where theres no sun and very little light at all, thunderstorms etc it can look like night sometimes for over an hour in nature i really wouldnt worry.

ps- it wont hurt them either way (strain dependant-watch for reversals when fucking with light scheduals on certain [picky] strains)

Something i would do next time that happen is take some kind of portable light, flashlight etc. and just leave that on until u feel it safe to turn your HID on. Sure the flashlight wont be much, but it will keep them from going into "sleep mode". -Opt

Thanks for the input everyone. I was under the impression that interupting the "light" cycle was not as serious as messing up the "dark" period. I surprise myself when I'm right. HA!

I have a couple 42wCFLs in a shop reflectors I could have put on them. I may have that ready in the future. It won't be long until the spring tornado season. I'll be ready!
